4 speed trans I.D and info
« on: September 11, 2012, 10:23:31 PM »
Ok, I bought a 4 speed and a case...Thanks Jerry (I found the shifter :D). Now I need some info, the case has a shorter distance to the shifter then the other trans. The Pinto trans is 13 3/4" from tail housing front to shifter center, the other one is 11" and has bolts for the shifter (instead of the screw in type).

Top pic looks like 71-73 2.0 trans. Bottom pic is from a Fox body mustang/fairmont.

Top one is an EAO 2.0 pinto, I checked with one in the junkyard still in the '73 wagon. But the bottom pic has the same case as the pinto but the difference is the tail shaft. Didn't the fox bodys have T5's?.

I have a 2.0 trans & bell in the trunk of my '73 & never looked at it to realize the bell doesn't have the upper 2 bolts like the 2.3's do.

I'm pretty sure the '79 Mustang was still 4 speed but I don't know when they went to the T-5.

I'm pretty sure the '79 Mustang was still 4 speed but I don't know when they went to the T-5.

Did more research last night and the mustang 2.3 4 speeds are a FOG or Rocket or Type E box.

. Still different then the one I have, but close.......ma n these german motor/trans are a pain to find info or parts on.
