Title: 4 spd to T5 ?? what speedometer cable do I use? speedo gear????
Post by: Ruger Nut on March 20, 2012, 09:10:17 PM
In my swap from 4spd to the WC T5, I thought I read some where that I need a Pinto automatic cable to reach the other side of the T5. Which auto  C3 or C4? I know that someone on here has done this  and probably has the part # or know where or has an extra cable they might be interested in parting with,  Or know where I could get one.  Please and Thank You!!   also I'm going from 79 na 2.3 4spd car w/ 2,79 gear rear 6 3/4" to a 86Tbird  2.3 turbo wT5 and 3.40 8" rear end;     any ideas on the correct speedo gear?  Thanks Jim

I think I used the stock 4-speed cable, but I'm not sure right now.

However, page 173 of the current Ford Racing Performance Parts catalog http://editiondigital.net/publication/?i=88199 (http://editiondigital.net/publication/?i=88199) lists all of the speedo gears and shows you how to calculate what gear you need.

I used my stock cable and the very end that holds the gear, installed the stock t-5 3:55 gear and it works perfect with my 3:55 rear
