I have a 1978 Ford Pinto Panel Wagon-it has a 2.3 4 cylinder engine.
Recently I had to have a new camshaft installed and when I got the head back from the machine shop I reinstalled the head and tried to start the engine it would not start...
I have tried to reset the timing of the crank and the camshaft to #1 Piston TDC on the compression stroke--still will not start (also set the distributor to #1 plug--
I installed a new voltage regulator, a new starter relay,a new distributor,a new spark box still will not fire--
I am using an Accel High output coil (no balist) would that make a difference also I am using the distributor that has one vaccum instead of the two vaccum that the 1978 called for---would that make a difference?? reason I am using that distributor is that I could not find a rebuilt one at any of the aftermarket parts stores.
Also does anyone have a wiring diagram for the 78 Pinto--color coded wiring diagram would be great--I would gladly pay for a copy if someone has one they can mail me--I have tired to find one but even the library does not have a listing for the Pinto....
thanks,
Mike
