« on: May 20, 2014, 08:50:46 AM »

I heard that V6 frame mounts are the same as 4 cylinder mounts. Anyone know for sure?  I seem to remember reading it someplace on here before.

That would make it slightly less difficult to get them. I'm having a beast of a time finding either the frame mount or the engine bracket.

I have a pair of frame mounts I'd trade for a pair of carefully removed 71-73 stands, Thinking of going back 2.0.

I highly doubt they are exactly the same as during my V-6 restoration I found the back of my mounts stamped V6. If they were the same Ford would not have wasted the did to stamp them.

I have a pair of V6 mounts off the 77 I scrapped. One of these days I need to dig them out & compare them.

I'm another potential source for a 2.0 frame mount trade, FYI.

@65shelby: I do have a pair of 2.3 frame mounts out of a 74 up pinto. Possibly have an extra set of block mounts. I'm in no real hurry for the 2.0 stands...just an idea. I seem to have accumulated about 6 2.0s in the last couple years, The catch is it will take some precise surgery to remove stands without rendering them unusable or damaging the donor car framerail, IIRC there are 2 bolts at the top, and 4 or so spot welds down each side. I've seen spotweld cutters that do a clean job. I ground my originzls off, so they were scrapped. What is your timetable for modding your car?
@bbobcat: If you're junking that body, then yes, hack out that chunk of frame! What are you looking for? I have some 2.3 turbo stuff in addition to the heap of 2.0s

Ironically, my timeframe is largely dependent on when I can get some 2.3 frame+block brackets. I was trying not to tear the car apart until I had most or all of the parts for the swap, but I could probably pluck the 2.0 and get the mounts removed inside of a week.

Even though I have no intention of using a 2.0 again, I wasn't going to chisel the mounts off. I have a spot weld cutter anyway and hate mangling things just to save time.

Going to check the local pic yard tomorrow if weather permits. Heard theres a couple pintos. See if I can score some more block mounts. What all are ya'll looking for? I could probably put together a couple turbo motor install packages. Mounts, pans, c-4, d-9, t-5 bellcrank bells, etc.

I just need the brackets that bolt onto the engine block and the brackets at attach to the frame.

A stock oil pan & pickup would have been nice, but I already bought this:

Now I just hope it fits...

I am working on a 78 pinto wagon. I am putting a 2.3 engine from an 84 mustang II in. the pinto had a front sump oil pan and the replacement engine has a rear sump oil pan. Is there a way to make a change? I no longer have the old motor, it was turned in as a core.

Yeah, buy a front-sump pan & pickup.

You'll probably be getting a private message shortly from some guy in Maryland wanting you call him for reasons unknown. After some prodding, you'll find out that he has an oil pan to sell. He tried to sell me one after I posted pictures of the one I already bought???

If the guy in Maryland is named Howard, he has more Pinto parts than all of us together. Very nice guy with a vast know how of Pintos. Trust me on this one.

Well then he sounds like a stand up guy. I have just been spammed and scammed so much lately that I thought it was weird getting PM with no subject from someone wanting me to call them with no reference as to why. That's all. Carry on.  ;)
