74 with a 2.0
« on: July 20, 2014, 10:57:53 PM »
Hello, I have a 74 pinto with the 2.0 in it. I have a chance to get an offy "C" series intake  (2 barrel) is this a good intake for this motor and if so What carb should I put on it?

IMHO? No.  Use the stock manifold & carb

the only substitute for cubic inches is BOOST!!!

Stock intake is the best intake ever made for a 2.0L Ford.
Its better to be a has-been, than a never was.

And the C series Offy was made for pure rpm only and not for street use. Too big. Your stock intake is by far the best part.......... ...not like the 2.3 where stock intake is junk. The early 2.3 racers were using stock 2.0 intakes to make more power.

Okay, What about a better carb than the stock carb. I just found a header that will fit WITHOUT having to modify the engine mount. it runs very well but it just doesn't have much get up and go. What do you guys recommend to give it some more get up and go. I have a 2.3 on a stand in my garage that I will rebuild but that will be down the road a bit. I just need some more "passing power" Any help would be great.

I'm quite happy with my Weber 32/36 DFEV and Hotspark ignition conversion. Mine's an auto wagon, with a 2" straight pipe from the downpipe back. It won't win any races, per se...but it'll go, especially passing speeds. That being said, if I'm passing someone, it's because they're doing 55 in a 55. lol :) The only people I pass on the interstate are those doing under 65. ;)
