I have a 78 hatch back  and need a new fuel tank sending unit.  Any leads on where to find 1. Will a mustang II unit work? Appreciate any help

this is a sending unit that looks the same. It also fits right. The add say it is not intended for pinto. One of the members here bought it. He said it works opposite of the original. When tank is full it reads empty and vice versa. Maybe you could rewire it, or just put take on the gauge marking an "F" over the "E" and call it good enough.

I used one listed for a Mustang II that I got from Rock Auto in my 77 sedan with the new tank they carry. Sending unit works well and is accurate.

It has been a few years but I would have used the tank listed for the Pinto. Check Rock Auto and Spectras web site. I believe they are the same tank.

The best price for the tank is Amazon.  https://www.amazon.com/s?k=pinto+gas+tank&ref=nb_sb_noss
