2.0 carb upgrade

I been reading and searching and cant find much. what Im looking for is the best carb for a 71 all stock 2.0 with stock manifold. I was looking at the weber on my cj7 and it looks like it might bolt up but haven't tried or measured it yet. any ideas im looking for something that would run better
I might own one FORD but, I own a Chevy and a trailer.

back in the mid 70's used to buy the holley version of that carb for about $29 bucks.  it was good carb.  made to be a bolt on for the early 1971 pinto 2.0. 


we sold a ton of them to mini truckers and a lot of datsun b210 guys.  we would have them bring in their old intake manifold onto which we would weld an adapter plate to accept the new carb, then hog out the plenum to smooth things out as far as flow goes.


for the mini trucks we had a 'kit' that came with the new carb, a new throttle cable and some linkage pieces that we had stamped that would connect it all to your stock gas pedal.


use the standard replacement made for your car.  don't go with the jeep parts.


Scott, where did you source your new carb?

the only substitute for cubic inches is BOOST!!!

I was looking for a new well known rebuilder I could ship my 5200 to have reworked after last years Stampede. I found a guy that was like us, an old fart, that really knew his stuff and he pointed me to pierce manifold and this specific model,

I'm mystified by why so many rave about putting the same carb back on and calling it a conversion.... ......maybe that's just me. I have no trouble working out any error on the stock carb, having done it several times. And $260??? I'll stick with my $5 repairs....... .......I've bought stock carbs for $10 at the yard and all I'll pay for one. Same if I ran across say a 38/38.

I picked up a 2700VV way back to put on mine until I came to the forgone conclusion that variable venturi CV carbs never make as much power as ones you can definitely open up all the way on your own........... ..found that out after lots of CV experience on the bikes.
