Question for all us 2.0 geeks out there-
Took the valve cover off the newly broke in engine this morning to make sure she was oiling ok... Removed the distributer and put in my modified parts distributer where I can hook a drill to it and spin up the oil pump with the engine off. The spray bar has no issues- all cam lobes are getting bathed correctly- Good news!
Question, the rear cam bearing (firewall) is squirting oil from the back of the head straight up and to an angle to the right- steady stream which would hit the rocker cover if it was on.
I know there is a oil hole in the middle of this bearing journal- and during normal engine run the cam would be spinning so I'm not seeing this as an issue however I have never see this before. I usually see oil coming from that bearing but not a jet that could hit the valve cover.
I'm thinking that this is normal but wanted to throw it out there and see what you guys thought.

Could just be the valve spring there shoving cam clearance one way to make bigger leak with motor not turning. The front doesn't do it because belt holds cam down harder. Might carefully turn engine to load cam one way and lightly fit a feeler gauge in the loose side to see how much space there, or simply look for shavings and rough edge on bearing outside edge either side. Turn engine and it should change.
Probably nothing. I've seen other engines do stuff like that.

Thanks... I spun up the oil pump again tonight to check what you suggested and guess what? It acted correctly... Here is where I thought about why... I ran the test last time with the engine hot. I removed the valve cover and distributed right after I had her up to temp and was adjusting my electric fan- the oil was hot!
So yea, I can see why it was flowing very freely...
