1980 Pinto cooling system lines
« on: September 15, 2016, 08:07:33 AM »
Hey guys

in 2012 I started to fix the engine/wiring from the engine fire I had in June 2012 & had pulled everything. Now I'm putting the car back together but I don't have any good pics & can't tell. There are two lines from the heater core. Both go to the water pump, and one has a small line that crosses over the valve cover. Where does that go to & does anyone have pics? The set up on my 77 is completely different so I can't reference it.

Don't know about the 80 but on my 74 the one that crossed over the valve cover went to the choke housing.

Yeah it's similar on the 77 but it changed. The pics from 2012 are inconclusive as to where they go.

they had two ways , first one ran like to photo, over the valve cover to the choke housing and then to the intake , later one went to elelctric choke , the hose ran from the water pump and back to a extra
tube on the thermostate housing ,

Below are a couple 1980 Pinto photos from ebay, I believe.  That little hose crossing over the valve cover appears to go to the intake manifold, outside lower rear area of the manifold water plate.

If there is a small line that goes across the back of the valve cover it is the same & that would be greatly appreciated. It's much smaller than the 5/8 heater hose that goes to the water pump & thermostat housing.

I found some old pics of the car but still inconclusive & looks like I might be missing a metal line but not sure.
