Title: 1979 Front Brakes Locked
Post by: zappid on March 13, 2012, 01:59:22 PM
Thinking about starting to work on my 79 Pinto again now that winters over up here... And I just remembered where I left off.. The front brakes.... I have new equipment, but I'm having a heck of a time getting the old ones off,  I believe it's called a "key" that needs to "slide off", and I believe the key is rusted on... I've tried heat (with a propane pencil flame), cold, just about every kind of spray lubricant, and good old hammering, doesn't budge...  Only other thing I can think is to cut them off, but wouldn't even know where to start...

Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated

I use a medium sized drift and a hammer to push them out. never had a problem.
