Title: 1977 voltage regulator

Hi Guys, need some help. I know there are 2 voltage regulators. (electronic and machanical) but how can I check to see if its is working right? Question #2: is it the altenator or regulator? thanks in advance, VT

Quick way to test the alternator is to unplug the regulated , find the field wire on back of it, Orange cap , it’s close to center of the end bearing , get a wire that will reach the battery and that temeral , start car and touch it , your volt should rise quickly , don’t leave it on to long because it will fry other things with high voltage , turn on head lights if you don’t have a volt meter , the lights will go bright when to jump the battery streght to the field , but if nothing happens it’s the alternator
