1977 V6 drive shaft color codes
« on: December 11, 2013, 03:06:45 PM »
Those of you that have seen my posts of the restoration of my crusing wagon know I am trying to replicate the factory right down to the correct markings and color codes. Ford used a color code on their driveshafts to aid the assembly line workers. My drive shaft was too heavily corroded to find the stripes. Can any 1977 V6 Pinto wagon owners out there check for painted stripes on their drive shafts? I would need dimensions of the stripe widths, locations, and colors. Pictures would help too.

Thanks!

Looking at my build sheet it appears the stripe colors will be blue, green, green, green. With this info I should only need the stripe dimensions, a drive shaft from a 4 cylinder Pinto should work as I doubt the dimensions and location of the stripes would change only the colors.

Thanks again.
