1977 to 1980 interchageable parts????
« on: September 13, 2015, 09:50:26 AM »
Trying to decide if its a good investment to purchase a 77 cruising wagon with a v6.....I have an 80 sedan wagon with 4cyl......how hard is the change for these 2 engines?.....I know the windshield will not change out..... I am more thinking grill, marker/running lights, doors, back glass/window, doors/door handles, wheels...etc. etc.

thanks.
Thanks
May the Lord bless

You should be able to interchange just about everything including the windshields if you wanted.

The doors will bolt on but in the back /top the sedan has a curve for the roof line , the wagon is straight , the grill , marker lights and running lights will not fit , unless you use the fenders  and hood , side door windows are straight on the wagon , I am putting a 75 front end with a 76 grill in my 79 Cruze wagon, the windshield from the 77 would fit the 80 but you have to buy the gasket that goes around it to do so , but I would keep the one you have in the 80 , its glued in like the newer car and less chance to leak , wheels and every thing is the same , to 77 has a 8 inch rear because of the V6 , use it , hope this helps , and also do not throw anything away , you or someone in the future may need it , 🍺

Thanks guys.....so the tail lights and rear marker lights WILL change???....Will the engine change with ease or will I need to redo front suspension motor mounts etc...this one is an auto....mine is a stick....if I wanted to stay with the stick......bel l housing and flywheel SHOULD be the only change for that, correct?
Thanks

The 4 cyl trans will not bolt up to the 2.8 , even if you got the belhouseing , if you want to keep it stick you have to find a mustang two four speed belhouseing and use the T-5 trans , the 2.8 will swap easy , you may have to swap out the front coil springs , all wagon use the same tail lights , wagon doors will fit all wagons , sedan door will fit all sedans ,
