1977 pinto cruizer wagon info please
« on: January 24, 2017, 10:36:53 AM »
ok, so i have a chance at getting this in a trade deal and i was wondering if it is of value. it is a 1977 cruiser wagon i think. my end is a 1967 ford 4x4 frame and axles. is this a good deal? what is the rarity of this model? someone has swapped in a 302 into it.

Cruising wagons are among the most sought-out later Pinto models.  That one looks a little rough but it's hard to tell from one photo.  Is it relatively solid?  Is it complete?  Does it run?

looking at the photos it does look in bad shape , looks like some did put a 302 or other in it already by looking at the hole in the hood and the five lug wheels in the rear end , you have to check to see how the floor pans look , but looks like the door is toast ,

there is a 302 in it and it has a 9in in the rear. does look like rot but according to the guy it is all surface rust and no rust through that he knows of

By the time and money you fixed up that rust bucket with. you could have bought a really nice one. RUN from that one.

Man that looks nasty, even if there's no holes that metal has to be paper thin by now, unless you're a body man and enjoy doing that stuff I'd be passing on that one.

If the body is decent, then I say go for it.  Even if it was a basket case I think you could part it out and make a decent profit.  It may take a little time but there is value in some of that stuff.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm awaiting more pictures. From them I'll make my final decision. But the thing I'm trading with is just sitting anyways

That is definitely the other factor in this equation: the value of what you're trading.  You say it's a 1967 Ford 4x4 frame and axles.  I don't keep up with such things, but that doesn't sound particularly valuable unless you just happen to be in need of one.  If you have no need of it, and it's just sitting anyway, then perhaps you'd find the Pinto Cruising Wagon to be of more value to you.  Only you can make that decision.  As TIGGER pointed out, if you ultimately discover it's not worthy of a restoration, you can always part it out.  Good luck with whatever you decide!

I agree with Dwayne.
If you don't need the 4x4 stuff and if it isn't really worth much I'd make the trade. Worst case is you get a bunch of parts you can use on another car or sell for some decent money.
