1976 2dr Wagon
« on: September 14, 2014, 08:26:04 PM »
First, I am not a "car guy" but I have the opportunity to buy a 1976 2dr Ford Pinto Wagon that my Great Aunt bought new.  It is an Auto, A/C, and 34k miles.
She has driven it regularly until this year.  My question is, if I buy this car are parts available?  My goal would be to give it a little TLC, a little performance, and keep it.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Generally speaking, parts are available for our cars.  Sometimes it may take a little creative searching, but that's exactly where this site comes in handy.  Whatever you might need, odds are that someone here will have it or at least have an idea where you can get it.  The opportunity to purchase a one-owner 34000 mile Pinto is a rare one.  By all means, car guy or not, if you have any interest in the car you should seize the opportunity!  Pintos are becoming more and more collectible.

Parts are available but very few are stocked. Napa, Advance, O'reilleys & Auto Zone can get most replacement parts by the next day. Amazon, Rock Auto & Ebay will take a few days.

Thank you very much for the helpful replies.  I'm going to pull the trigger but won't get the car until Thanksgiving when I'm down that way.

I found out today that the AC is not working but my father tells me that it has an inline V6.  Does this sound right?

JohnzWagon, thank you for the clarification.  My car knowledge is showing, an inline can't be a V unless I'm totally confused  :o

You are correct, inline is straight, a V has 3 cylinders on each side..
