Looking to find out if there is any fit issues by removal of stock 4 speed and puting a modern trans out out a mustang  like five speed or ? Car that my dad is looking at is a 72 squire with 2.3 with a dead trans. Looking at it as a father son project .  Any info would b much appreciated Thx Don

The T-5 will fit, but the firewall will need a little hammer work, and the shifter will be placed farther back then the stock 4 speed shifter, my next question is, are you sure the 72 has a 2.3? it should have a 1.6 or 2.0L

Positive  I jave an original 73 with the 2.0. The prior owner of the 72 had replaced the 2.0 in the 72 with the 2.3 about 5 yrs ago.

find a t9, alot easyer swap and good trans if your not guna make over 200 ponys, the original 4 speed is good too if you can find one, i dogged my 4speed and it stayed good, remember to put good fluid in it and keep it fresh
