Last year when I had my Pinto "brought" back to life, my mechanic checked the A/C. Amazingly, even after sitting for several years, the A/C was still fully charged with Freon R-12. The A/C runs fine and blows cold air out of the two vents. Now, here is the problem. The unit will run fine for about 15 minutes and then the 30 amp fuse will melt. Not blow, melt. The ends of the fuse look like they were touched by a soldering gun. The blower runs fine on the vent and defrost settings. There is no meltdown until the A/C is switched on and runs for 15 minutes. Any ideas of what I can check? Remember, unlike many of you, I am not mechanically gifted but I can check for loose connections, etc. Thanks to Pinto_one's step-by-step instructions, I have learned how to remove the speedometer cable, check the fuel sending unit, find the dash brake light's loose connection, and replace the gas gauge, so I can do some simple repairs. I appreciate any suggestions.
