« on: January 28, 2013, 04:28:23 PM »
Hey Guys will these fit the 79 pinto?
http://www.americanmuscle.com/silver95cobrar-16x8-7993-sumitomo-stan.html

Or these

http://www.americanmuscle.com/black95cobrar-17x8-7993-sumitomo-stan.html

from what I'm reading the 17's will not fit the front..correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks

Looks like it will be the 16"ers. From what I'm reading it should fit all 4 corners without any spacers.

no they probably wont fit without spacers up front. The outer bearing distance is less on the fox  vs the pinto so the hat on the pinto rotors are taller. as such they dust cover will stick out the center cap holes, i would suspect that you will need a half inch spacer on the front and longer studs to make these type of wheels fit. If the wheel you select has a protruding center cap then it wouldn't be an issue. I am 99% on this.  If you are gonna spend the money on rims i would do a brake upgrade first and go to 5 bolt while your at it

I was thinking about doing the 5 lug swap. The pinto already has disc brakes up front though. There are plenty of aftermarket rims 4x108 out there. It's just a matter of finding the correct backspacing, which I can't seem to find here on the forums. I will drop down to a 15" if I have to.

Ha, yeah it kinda has disc brakes up front. In the sense we can use drilled loonies as replacement rotors here in canada. They are pathetically small if you intend to motivate the car with any gusto.  Fox backspacing will fit in terms of all the other clearance and rubbing.  it's a matter of finding a rim with a deep enough center so the ends of the spindle/rotor don't stick out. the 5 bolt swap will be the same issue though. currently Running 5 lug granada rotors with sn95 rims and it takes spacers to tuck it all behind the center caps.

Do you 16"ers will fit without spacers and just pop the centercaps out...Thanks so far OhSix9 for your responses.

What about a fuel level sender is there something out there that will fit?

http://www.fordpinto.com/parts-resources-here-is-where-you-can-find-this-or-that/nos-parts-for-fuel-tank-sending-units/

Try that.  I was told the mustang II sending units were the same in some cases.  I bought a brand new one for my '74. I haven't had a chance to compare it because I need to get some fuel out of the tank before I change it out.
