Title: '74 oil and temp senders question

hi all, I have the '74 Pinto 2.3 in an Anglia and I am trying to make the stock Anglia gauges work with the '74 motor.  Is the oil sender on the Pinto engine for a gauge or for an idiot light?   Does anyone have the  specs for the engine coolant temp sender (ohms at cold and hot?)...I need to see if the guage is compatible.  Thanks again Pinto people !!

Hi I have a 74, 2.3 auto runabout and my oil and temp are the same engine light.  I do not know what the resistance is, but with a ligt the senders, water and oil, are switches.

You can try a pinto Cruze wagon water temp sender , they had a gauge on it but no oil pressure gauge , you might want to try a early ford ranger with the 2.3 , it had both , the anglia might be related more to the 74 Capri ,

just use the sending units from the original motor that way you know the match resistance

the oil sender turns out to be an "on/off switch" so that one is solved.  Using the original senders is a good idea ...but I do not have them.  I checked Rockauto and they do not list the temp sender.  I will be experimenting with the Pinto temp sender to see if it is even close and maybe look for used Anglia temp sender. thanks for the replies.

It would have been the 59 or 60 anglia 100E with a 1172 motor.

ok guys, new question(s), I have the '74 2.3 in an Anglia, using the Anglia temp sensor and gauge and a new thermostat.   Finally got car running and proceeded to drive it around some to test it out.  The temp gauge needle slowly rises to H (for hot) briefly, then falls fast to the middle.  Then after a moment or two goes back to H and repeats falling fast to the middle. 
To understand what is really happening, I put an aftermarket mechanical temp sender and gauge.  It slowly goes to 190 degrees and rapidly falls to 170 and repeats.  Therefore I am convinced the H is probably about 190 degrees  while the middle area is about 170 degrees on the anglia gauge. 
First question, what is the temperature rating of the stock thermostat?  I dont remember which one I bought but it was suppose to be "stock". 
Second, question...wou ld a non pressurized or low pressure radiator (referring to the anglia radiator) require a lower temp thermostat?   I think that might be why it will go to "Hot " while it really isnt hot. Pinto was pressurized... right?
and why would it be rising and falling, it is as if the thermostat (brand new) is opening fully and then closing. 
I will be pulling out the thermostat to see what temp rating it is, but I thought I would post this first. 
I will throw this out too...with the rad cap off, you can see the flow taking place, the coolant is moving quite good until the thermostat shuts the flow off.  and the rad was cleaned and tested prior to installing by a rad shop.    thanks all

update... a few more trips around the block and now the temp gauge levels out at about 190 and does not rise and fall anymore...coul d have been trapped air or sticky thermostat...w hatever it was, it seems to be working fine now.  Found out I have a 4psi radiator cap and it should work fine with a 190 degree thermostat.  Things are good again!!
