V8 rear end

Description: Hello, I bought a '73 pinto wagon at a swap meet it had a rebuilt 2.0 in it, and was rust free. Well I decided I had to have it. I didn't make it home, I had it towed over to an engine shop and decided to drop a 302 into it. The problem now is we can't find a rear end for it. Does anyone have a clue on where I can find one? Or what a would be my options?   Thanks for any help!

If you're still looking I have an 8" housing out of a Mustang II, direct bolt in.

Well, if you were local I have a MII/Pinto 8 inch rear.
They are fairly common, bolt on like they are made for the car (they were) and keep the 4 lug pattern.

If you can't find one, using one from an early (65-66, or 67-70)Mustang will work. These have the 5 lug 5X4.5 pattern. Make sure it is the 8 inch, not the 6cylinder. Could also use a 9 inch, but probably not worth the extra money unless you are going crazy on the engine.

The main thing is the leaf spring pads are not quite right on those, but you can fairly easily modify the ones on the rear or have them moved.
The reason I put the two different year groups is that there is a bit of a difference in the overall width. Either are doable, depending on the wheel offset you end up using.

There are some posts here about this swap, have you tried to do a search? Try 8inch rear (no space between the 8 and the inch).

hth,
Russ
