Looking for a 18Wheeler & Car Hauler
« on: October 05, 2008, 01:58:20 PM »
The Club is looking for help in finding a resource for Pinto transportation from the west coast to Carlise in 2011...

Looking for contacts in the auto delivery/ transportation industry that would be willing to rent an entire trailer to be filled with Pintos for the trip to Carlisle and back.
There may be stops on the way to pick up more cars etc...

Detail are thin at this stage but the need is sound.

We have had several that would be intrested in such a delivery of their cars and they fly in...  If you too would be intrested either in transporting your Pinto or particapating in the caravan, let us know in this thread...

Talk about a news worthy event!

Speaking with another friend in the business, had this idea. Set up a railroad pick up in containers to the east coast. Might be alot cheaper! There is a rail head in Harrisburg Pa.

We would need space for about 40 Pintos on a rail car From the West Coast to Pa. Wonder what that would cost? Maybe we could get sponsorship ?

Ok,that last post very negative! We'll keep on looking. And hooking up with a major car hauling company and getting a sponsorship is a great idea too! Thanks!

Need to find private hauler. Going through a company is very costly. You could double the pay from what driver normally gets and it would cost 1/2 the price of a company. Fred   :)

what about calling penske and renting a car hauler trailer and hiring a cdl driver.
penske rental would be a grate sponsor too!

ps they rent semi's too! and the big trailer that go behind them.

Penske will only lease a tractor and trailer to a trucking company. I have a cdl and 20 years experience under my belt, but I don't have my trucks anymore. (sold everything). If you can get your hands on a rig, I would drive it for PCCA for FREE, but some one would have to come up with the fuel. That's one of the reasons I got out of trucking, the cost of fuel.

I am sure that everyone would donate to help pay for the truck and fuel i know i would, just need a rough estimate of what we need to pool together for this

Here's an idea. Have a paypal account or something for us to donate to supply for a truck. I know I would not be needing to get a truck to have my car at Carlisle but am willing to donate for the 2011 Anniversary meet to be a success.

Some of the regular trucking co.'s that service the car industry come to CA loaded with new cars but go back empty and would love to find a load going East.  A caravan of Pinto's and Pinto members driving East from CA would also be fun and they could go I 40 which is old route 66.  Members could join in along the way and by the time Carlisle was reached a couple of hundred Pintos could over run the place and get lots of publicity along the way.  The Pinto's that need to be trailered could be a part of the caravan and it would be a party that no one could ever forget!  Is anyone interested?

I've got calls into Ford Motors/SVT Division, waiting for a call back on lining up transportation . I've also spoken with Fed/Ex on the same subject, still to early to get hard numbers. But they seem to be willing to work with us.
