Title: WHO'S COMING
Post by: pintoman on June 09, 2010, 05:44:05 PM
Alright it is now One year out from the 40th..I need to know who will be coming to Carlisle next year. Also if you are planning on being there start making your hotel\motel reservation's now.If you wait until April or May you may be way out in the country. For those who will be in the Pinto Stampede please get with Rearended. For hotel\motel information go to www.carsatcarlsle.com (http://www.carsatcarlsle.com),they have information on hotels and motels.I have been told that Carlisle will be giving a Pinto away next year at the show.Phil and myself will keep every one posted on the 40th.So keep checking and I hope to see every one there next year.Pintoman[Harley].

Let's hear from more of you!  (West Coast) Don't miss out, go to the site and e-mail me, let me know what you need to make the trip and maybe I can help. :read: Take a vacation, see the country through the windsheild of a Pinto. Ride with other Pintos, you may never get to do this again. I know the trip will be a long one, heck I am sending my cars out west to make the drive in with you. http://www.pintostampede.com (http://www.pintostampede.com)

I really want to but as it's looking like I might not be able to! :( I will know for sure in January, but that's another six months off, to late in the game to reserve a hotel. :'(

I'm going to plan on going, but the way finances are going, it's going to be impossible, or extremely tough to make ends meet and make the trip.

Well, according to my leave balances, I'll have plenty of vacation!!!  YAY!!! Now I need to have money... I definitely want Ruby RedHot going. She runs so well! Plus, May '71 is her birth month... and a 40th anniversary is the Ruby Anniversary, right? So it's very fitting. Plus, she's one of our flag's colors, and we'll be supporting the Wounded Warrior Project...it's a natural. ;D

dave , Everyone  they do have on site camping  for $40  for the whole weekend  check in as early as wed/ thursday and stay untill monday  they have showers on sits as well
i have done the camping the last 2 times  i did get wet this year  but it is a lot cheaper.

That's good to hear, thank you Phil! That actually helps a lot, it's just a matter of hotel stays for the trip back. The hardest part of this trip is I want my family to go with me to share the experience, and to help understand why I love this car club so much, it's the people and their passion for the Pinto like my own. More the people though! :)

The only problem with camping is that my daughter will be 18 months old then. We'd b e bringing the older daughter as well, she'll be eight next year. I think she'd enjoy it a lot though!

It is certainly my intention to be there, with or without my Pinto, but my wife's continually declining health could possibly alter those plans.  Will probably have to make at least two round-trips (I'm about four hours away) as there is also going to be a conflict with my son's high school graduation.  Rather than making reservations this early in the game, I'll take my chances and drive however far I need to go in order to get a room.  I've attended a number of Carlisle events and have never had to go farther than 10-15 miles to find a motel vacancy.

I would LOVE to be there with my wagon and am working vigorously to see if it can happen. The current state of it is FAR from the mark of being ready, it's gonna take alot of sweat and $$ to get it done in a year.

It would be wonderful to represent Texas at the show, and meet lots of other fans.

Most likely will be me and my wife, most likely just a one day thing.

Good evening all,
We are now about 9 (+-) months out so we need to have a solid as possible count as to how many of us will be attending the 40th. I want to start a list this week as to your names and the cars you will be bringing. So please pm me asap!!!! Harley,Bill, and myself want to make this a great time for all of those who are planning on being there.

I'm planning on it... saving for it... but really mine is still in the air. I only have a little over $500 saved but have as yet no provisions for my pets' care, among other things. If I do come, it's just me and Ruby RedHot, my '71 trunk model who will be celebrating her own 40th birthday in May '11. ;D

I don't think I said publicly that I was going to be at the 40th or not, I know I have told several personally...

I purchased a car trailer 2 weeks back and I have the Green Runabout running fairly well after I replaced the engine with the one I had waiting for my Mustard runabout. I still have annoying flat spots in acceleration almost like it's not getting gas or timing although I have gone over and over this. Anyway- wrong thread for discussing tech issues.

I'm staying at a B&B with my family in Carlisle, already booked. I will be meeting the Stampede in Indy at the designated hotel and ride with the crowd over to PA.

Can't miss this!

I'm in-
Scott

For those of you that have not been to the All Ford Carlisle show, this is the year to make it happen. From what I saw on the home page,Rick Marko will be using the T building for the display of the Pintos. This is the LARGEST building on the Carlisle showfield. It can handle at least 30 cars. Rick will be looking for the best we've got so you need to get your pictures to him so he will have a large base to pick from. I believe that cars inside the building will not be judged with the show field cars. They also provide stantions and chain to secure the cars in the building. One draw back at this point, there are set times when the cars go in and when they come out. A suggestion to any one that's lucky enough to be picked, have a nice display for your car. If you are getting ready to sign up for the show get the Gate and Go opition, saves alot of hassle at the front gate. I will be trying to get a hold of Rick Marko for more information about where we will be placed on the show field and any updates I can pass on to all of you.

Well Folks,
It's after the "Flush" and CA didn't suspend the Draconian Environmental regulations of AB32 (Prop 23 failed to pass) This means that the Small business environment will be even more toxic, and of course no employment relief for yours truly. I will not be attending the 40th @ Carlisle, as I may be checking into the "Exit stage right" option for pure survival's sake.
Car's are Fun, if they don't become an Anchor..

Car Trek may have to go Unfinished..

I won't be displayed in the building because Ruby's paint has, er, several different shades of Bright Red! lol! I REALLY want to go, and be in the Stampede especially. Like I said earlier, it's a once-in-a-lifetime gig. Money is the issue with me. Even if I slept in Ruby at rest areas I still need gas and I GOTTA get souvenirs, especially if we do a Gettysburg tour. I'm a huge Civil War buff as well as a Pinto and Beatles fanatic! Believe me, I want to be a part of this. With Norm's help maybe I can get a sponsor in Ruby's dealership. Wish me luck (please).  :D

I talked to Rick Markko about building T invitation. He says If I submitted and I got invited , I could decline and park with the group if I wanted. He did say I don't have to be by my car. So I submitted my application tonight!  The building had room for 41 cars. He said there will be all types of Fords in the building including several Pinto race cars ! I am working on getting another one there also.He likes all the responces from Pinto owners he has gotten. He expects a few hundred Pintos...LETS NOT DISSAPOINT HIM!

Funny story, well not really. I just the other day realized it would be possible for me to make it to the event. I had it all figured out when I was given bad news.... You see I graduate High School in may ( I bought my pinto as my first car when I was 16) and everyone has a graduation party right. Well mine just so happens to be scheduled on June 4 and its the only date/wekkend that works for my whole family. I was extremely dissapointed to say the least... :'(

You see I graduate High School in may ( I bought my pinto as my first car when I was 16) and everyone has a graduation party right. Well mine just so happens to be scheduled on June 4 and its the only date/wekkend that works for my whole family. I was extremely dissapointed to say the least... :'(

So... who's to say you can't party in Carlisle?  Bring the gang with you and           P-A-R-T-Y!!!

Good afternoon all,
I got ahold of Carlisle Events the first part of the week and they faxed me a list of who has signed up,we have 19 cars signed up under the Pcca banner. With one signed up with the Pinto Stampede. We're not far out from the gathering so we need you to sign up asap! Where they spot us on the show field will depend on how many cars we register! See you all soon, and I will keep you posted

Well, unless a miracle happens in the next couple months, you'll probably have to count me out.

I did some more fiddling with the clutch cable on Ruby, but it looks like the damage is done. She won't shift into any gear but Reverse. I'm guessing the throw-out bearing is shot.

I've saved a tad over $600 so far for this adventure, thinking I would add (hopefully) $1,000 when I get my tax refund.

If I get Ruby's transmission issues fixed (by a competent person other than myself) I can count on all the money I have saved being gone, and I won't be able to go. If I don't get her fixed, then I can't participate in the Stampede, which is what fired me up to go to Carlisle. I really wanted to meet the folks who couldn't make it out here for the California meets, but I'm not feeling zipping across the country for a mere couple days, then zipping back here. This was to be the first real vacation I've had since 1990.  Keep your fingers crossed, but don't hold your breath that I can make it.  :'(

That doesn't make sense Becky, reverse is not syncronized so it should be grinding going in if the clutch is not dis-engaging. Shame that you can't find someone who does work on the side (like me) that won't charge an arm&leg. I mean dang, talk about a gravy job! I can drop a Pinto trans in 45 mins, no sweat! Maybe one of the techs at the Ford dealer you mentioned?

Jimmy, it DOES grind when going into reverse... then stalls if I'm not accelerating. As for shifting into the other gears, it's like shifting the stick against a brick wall. I'm asking around right now, looking for decent prices. The car will have to be towed wherever it goes, though.  :(   Too bad I'm not in Virginia.  ;)

Becky, I remember reading that your clutch pedal wasn't going all the wat up to the stop. All of that unused movement is to be considered freeplay. Loosen the rear  adjustment nut all the way and pull the cable forward so that the T/O bearing is just touching the pressure plate. You can even take the rubber boot loose and look up in there and look at it. Now keep forward tension on the cable and tighten the forward nut until it just touches the bell, then tighten the rear nut with a wrench. That should give you enough free play, you don't need much. A little down at the trans will fell like more at the pedal.
Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse, I know you have been adjusting on the cable, just making sure you have all of the free play out. If all is good there, sounds like the pressure plate is going bad.
If you want to tow it to Va. I will fix it for you free of charge! I think I even have a 1600 clutch assy somewhere that I will give you. We can crank up the tunes, eat pizza and drink beer, throw a clutch in the Pinto and then go for a cruise! What a way to spend an afternoon!!  ;D :fastcar: ;D

Attention!! A new section to the Pinto Stampede web site has been added to include the Pintos, Bobcats and people that will be meeting the Pinto Stampede for the Carlisle Ford Nationals June 3rd, 4th and 5th.      go here to see ~~> http://www.pintostampede.com/Our%20Pintos.htm (http://www.pintostampede.com/Our%20Pintos.htm)     As you look down the list you will see some of the many Ford Pintos and Mercury Bobcats with their owners that will be joining the Pinto Stampede! and at the end our final stop for the Pinto Stampede, the Carlisle Ford Nationals! where we meet up with all the other Pintos, Bobcats and their owners that can't make the Pinto Stampede! to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Ford Pinto. If you would like to be added to the Pinto Stampede! or to those joining us at Carlisle please let me know, send an email to bosspinto@pintostampede.com      Include a picture of your car for the web site.      Tell us where you are from.     And let us know if you are meeting us in Carlisle or joining the Stampede.

We will be showcased in the first ever Carlisle downtown parade.  I just spoke with Carlisle events, the fee is $10 it would have been waived, but it goes to the township, not Carlisle Events.   The parade will take place on Saturday after the judging is complete so you will not loose out on a possible trophy by attending. Please go and register if you plan to attend the parade so we can reserve a key position in the parade. (near the front, possibly really near) If you have not registered for the event, please do that also. Respect the Pinto!

Norm
“Trail Boss”

Only 400 cars will be allowed in the parade and that will fill up really fast! if enough sign up I think the Trail Boss may have a really cool surprise for us so it's REALLY! important to get signed up for that parade ASAP! not enough Pintos sign up, no surprise for us (http://www.fordpinto.com/Smileys/default/sad.gif)

Already registered, no problem, call the registration office at (717) 243-7855 and add the parade to you registration. Please consider paying the $10 to add the parade, even if you don't want to do it, may be able to hand your ticket off to someone else at the event if you don't want to participate. Having LOTS! of Pinto's sign up is extreamly important to make sure the Pintos are featured during the parade.

Joe, just say the word, I will have few people that can handle that and they will be driving support vehicles for the Stampede, so you can get to know them first before handing over any keys.

I' think I'll just go for it. Most I can lose is $10 out of the 2K the trip is going to cost me anyway. I'm really looking forward to the Indy lap. I got to do laps around Infineon Raceway in Sonoma with Pintogirl which was a lot of fun. 30mph? waaaaaaa.

Hi. I live in Topeka Kansas and can't make the trip, but i wondered if i couldn't join in the caravan for a few miles if you were taking I-70 west. I could wait at the west Topeka toll and join in for about 10 miles or so. Is that a possiblity? Also, if someone needs assistance or directions or anything while passing thru have them call me. Thanks Kenny
Title: Re: WHO'S COMING

Hey Kenny, I grew up living in Topeka!

Anyone is welcome to join for as little or as long as they desire as the Stampede passes through. The Stampede stops for the night in Salina, Kansas on Sunday May29th and Monday May 30th (Memorial Day) the morning stop will be Fort Riley and the Stampede will be attending the Memorial Day services held at the Fort Riley Cemetery.

I have been considering... meeting up with the Stampede in Salina instead of my plan to meet at Indy because it's Kansas! and for Fort Riley! but it does mean another 1000 miles to my round trip so it's a tough call.

Hey Kenny, I lived all over Topeka from about 1970 thru 1985/6? and lived all over the place, mom moved a lot and I went to a different school each year so I saw it all. About 6 years ago I was in Topeka for a few days and was surprised... I still new my way around, had no troubles finding some of my old haunts and even got to visit the state capitol building (one of my favorite places to hang out as a kid) and the old zoo with the playground and little train and guardens, burnett's mound, some of the old schools I went to and other places that hold a special spot in memory. It sure has changed but in so many ways... it was as remembered.

Now! I really want to go to Kansas! and it's all your fault Kenny!  ;)

Thanks RE. I signed up yesterday. I plan on meeting the herd at the Lawrence Turnpike and joining in for about 20-30 miles or so. (maybe somewhere near Fort Riley). Ill either have to wait on my Turbo motor/tranny transplant or get to crackin on it now!

Cookie, i moved here in 69. (3rd grader then). Went to Gage School, Hayden, TWHS and some of THS. Topeka is pretty easy to get around in. Not much has changed. Hope to see you soon. Later, Kenny

Phil,  There really wasn't a place to list if you were coming with the Stampede, unless you are talking about the affiliation part of the registration.  I put down P.C.C.A. as affiliation even though my two cars are Stampeding.  Mostly because the Stampede isn't a car club. I think you will find alot more did this as well. I can send you a list of my members if you want to cross refference to the Carlisle list and maybe update the Stampede members. otherwise I think we are all the same once we get there.

Was supposed to take the Pinto to a local car show today but instead we worked on the motor home and trailer getting ready for the trip to Carlisle starting on Wednesday.  I still have a few more small details to do on the car but for the most part it is as ready as can be. I only have an open trailer so I have fashioned a tarp type cover for the motor in an attempt to keep any rain out of the intake and away from most of the shiny parts.

Looking forward to seeing lots more Pintos and making new friends.  See you there.
