T-shirts for the 40th.
« on: October 21, 2010, 05:47:48 PM »
Hi every one.Myself and John Clor from Ford need your help.John wants to supply T-shirts for the 40th if he can come up with the funding. What he needs is our input on the design and to promote and distribute the shirts. He was thinking maybe a 72 Sprint,a 76 MPG,a78 Cruising wagon, and a 79 Rallye, with the words----- Stampede to Carlisle-Ford Pinto 40th anniversary-1971-2011. Ford Nationals/June 3-4-,2011/Carlisle,Pa.Plus the Pinto Club logo,The Pinto Stampede logo,Ford Racing logo,Ford Perfomance logo and Carlisle Events logo. He needs our input on what images/verbiage  should appear on the tee's and a design-off would be helpful. Now there is one more thing that he wants to do.If he can get the budget that he is asking for from Ford,he would like to put on a banquet. He will not know anything until next month some time.Thats what i have for now.So give your thoughts so we can get things moving, only 8 months left and lots to do.

That design outline sounds great in itself... but it would be nice if one of the four was a plain jane Pinto... most of us had one of those... otherwise that sounds fantastic. Or maybe a '72 Sprint (Runabout), a '76 plain jane wagon, a '78 cruising wagon, and a '79 or '80 Rallye (trunk)?  Maybe four more Pintos on the back... a '73 Runabout Sport Accent, a '76 Stallion (trunk(?), a custom or hot rod cruising or panel wagon, and a late model wagon?  ;D

It's only fitting that you have a first and a last year car or wagon on the shirts. Anything else in between would be great.

I agree with having a "plain jane" Pinto on the shirt somewhere in the mix. It does sound great.

I might add at least one high performance Pinto (I am not plugging mine) just that so many were done and raced, in some ways they are the most seen and kept the Pinto in the minds of many when people go to the tracks. Maybe the Mickey Thompson Pinto (I can contact Dale Pulde if you like for approval, he drove that Pinto on every run) Another famous Pinto was Sam Auxier's, (he may be bringing this car, I have been speaking with him trying to get it there and he has alot of work to do to get this car ready, but he will try to bring it)or Jack Rousch's (But they were not interested in talking with me about Pinto's when I called about the Stampede, so from a personal perspective I would not give that car free publicity)Just a thought.

Harley,

Sounds fantastic! Here are the logo's the site was working up for the 40th... We can change anything if needed or if everyone wants to do something else, I'm open.

The collected funds will help if that is what you guys need to do. You and Phil need to hash it out with all the Donating Members starting in December (when the drive is over).. I will set up a special board for those members only and the funds can be divided as you guys see fit.

This is really great... Really!

Norm, if you'd read my post you'd see that I included a hot rod/customized one in my idea. I want to include Pintos that most of us had or at least have seen. Whenever I take one of my Plain Jane Pintos to a car show, people passing by stop and remember their own experiences with one... and they weren't special run cars but everyday drivers. Plus, I like double-sided shirts. The more Pintos the merrier! ;D

I like the idea of a small logo on the front and the larger pictures on the back.

I have a shirt manufacturer that I use for the PCCA polos that is pretty reasonable. they do everything from shirts to bags with embroidery as well. Might get a good discount with a large order. I was planning on helping with shirts but you guys have a great jump on it with the logo and stuff. Looks great! Let me know if i can be of some assistance.

Would be happy with any Carlisle pinto t-shirt but would love to see a squire wagon on the shirt.
Thanks,
