I am working on getting some Big name people out to the Knotts show this year. One of them will be Dan Esslinger of Esslinger Engineering. I think I can convince him to bring one of his all Aluminum 3.0 minget motors and some give away parts. The other might be
" Turbo " Joe Morgan. I think I can get him to bring either his 10 sec. Pinto OR his 8 sec Focus wagon with an 2.3 motor in it. I will be working on some other people that I will announce later. Stay tuned......... ............

I may come with my '77 sedan.  It will depend on a couple of things, however.

My car is nice but it is certainly not in "car show" condition.  Does that matter?

Does everyone hang out with their cars all day or is it ok to leave them and go to the amusement park? I've never participated in a car show before so sorry for the dumb question.

Not a dumb question. You can hang out, go look at the cars or go the the park if you want. there is no set rule for this event. We will be having some organized events that weekend including the day of the event. I will post the schedule.

Since Brad is in charge of this meet I will need to defer to him on all questions but I will be there to do my part as needed...

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone and taking LOTS of pictures,

Is there anything I can bring fron the site that folke want?

Just bring what you have, It cannot look any worse than what I have showed up with in the last 2 years.  Here is a shot from last year.

This is my first visit on this site and will be attending Knotts again, I'll bring my 71 coupe with the 460 engine. I live in Oceanside, Ca. so I'll trailer to the parking lot. Should show up around 7:00 on sunday. I have made some changes from last year, cowl induction hood, looks great. Dan.

the first year i did the show, I towed it in due to it not running.  I do not recomend that.  If it runs, why not drive it?  Engine is back in mine, but there were a few modifications needed to get it in with the new oil pan.  Hope to start it this sunday and verify that it does not leak.  If it still does, Time for a complete rebuild.  Only time will tell.

Proof I have a hood, Just need to have a better method of holding up the center section.  I have a hood skin that is extra.  That will help with the home made cowel scoop.  May need a grille though.  Mine broke completely after the show last year.

CAR COUNT AS OF 4/1/07

So far we have 20 comfirmed cars. I know there will be others that I do not have contact information. This could be the largest group of Pintos ever at any California Car Show.

MEDIA AND MAGAZINE INK.
I have been contacting several publications ( actually just started ). I have a responce from "Legendary Ford Magazine". They can not come down and make the show BUT would like us to submit an editoral with pictures and the will publish it in an up comming magazine. I have also contacted Hemmings Muscle Magazine. Jeff Koch, who did the article on the Red Pangra will be attending the show. My hope is that he can do some type of story for his magazine. I have written to Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords but have not heard back from them yet.

KNOTTS SHOW ORGANIZERS
I wrote to the organizers of the Knotts show and asked them two things. First, why don't Pintos have a " category ". As anyone who has registered knows, we have to submit our entry as " Other ford" I suggested that as we will be having nearly 30 Pintos in attendance I felt it was time to classify us as an official car entry.
The other thing I wanted to know is what we could do to be a sponsor? Stay tuned for more info.

Hey Kids! Long time since I have been here! Sorry for the absence. Any way, It has come to my attention that you pinto guys like to hang out and talk....so.... why don't we meet up at my place to clean cars and eat. Last year I invited no one and some how pintos appeared from the sky (seriously, people that I didnt know showed up). This year, what the hell! Come on by! My address is:

1026 South Valinda Ave.
West Covina, CA 91790.

Also, if you will be near by that morning before the show, all the folks near me will be caravaning to breakfast. Nothing quite like seeing 15 pintos on an empty freeway. Pleace get back to me on who will be coming over, I need to make sure I have enough meat to BBQ. You can wash, detail and clean you can in and out over hear. Come by as early as you want and leave as late as you want (so long as we get a good nights sleep). I have alot of room here. You all are also more than welcome to stay the night. Keep me posted and call for questions!

as for our own catagory, SCPOC (so cal probe owners) had to request their own catagory.  When they reached the required minimum to be considered (20 I think), they were granted their own catagory.  We should just need to request it and get our own next year.

I was wondering why you guys hadn't been making noise about a Pinto class. As I recall, it takes 15 entered cars to get a class, I know with this year's turnout that will make at least 2 maybe 3 years with enough cars. I am certain this year plus last year's turnout is more than the Probes (hey, I still enter mine even though I now hang out with you bunch of sickos more), so the minimum count has been met.

PHOTOGRAPHER NEEDED !!!!!!!

There is a need for someone who will not be busy talking to all the inquiring lookers. I would like to take A LOT of pictures for us and the magazines. Would someone please like to volunteer for this job?
Thanks

I will have my camera with me as always and will be taking pics all day long. I do wander around the show--though I'm skipping most of Mustangland these days (ok, once I've seen 20 mid-80's 'stangs I've had my fill), so I expect to hang around the oddballs area longer. After the show I can set up a gallery on my photo site for the event.

13 miles could be more troublesome that I thought.  It is still overheating after removing the t stat.  I could have blown the head gasket.  If necessary, I may put my new to me heads, intake and carb this saturday and try again.  If it does not work, then I will be there, but the car will not.  Wish me luck

Just a suggestion but you need to have some restriction in the Tstat housing to allow the watter to slow down long enough to let the radiator to dissipate the heat. I don't think you want to remover the Tstat. You might want to replace it with a large washer with a 3/4 hole in it.

I will put in a lower temp t stat tonight and try again.  With any luck it will be ok.  I may need to also flush out the system.

GREAT NEWS CONCERNING OUR OWN CLASS.
Please read the email I received from the Ford Car club.

Brad,

We are glad that you have organized the Pintos and have as many as 30 coming to the show. We would be happy to add a class for you if you can gather that much participation.
To have a class added, we would like for you to join our council and participate in the Ford Car Club Council meetings. At this point the best way to accomplish that would be to attend the show in mass, have a representative visit the registration booth and ask to see Marc or Frank. We can get the info to you so one of your members can start attending the meetings and we can discuss adding a Pinto class.
 Hope to see you there!

Well, I got it running again with a new top end.  I did in fact have a blown head gasket.  >:(  So, now in place of the edelbrock intake, 2bbl carb and truck heads, I now have heads and 4bbl intake from a 69 torino/fairlane along with a edelbrock carb.  All items cost me a total of $7 and tremendously help my budget for the GRM 2k7 that I am entering this year.  Now to solve the oil leak from the rear main seal

This could be most stack, most modified, most shiny parts, etc .
There will also be an 11 question Quiz and the winner with the most correct and runner ups will receive gifts.

I noticed no 2.3 EFI turbos (unless under a closed hood???) & I would have been unique, which is why I chose this build, & kicked myself in the butt a few times but there's always next year.

Oh ya, we spotted Pintony 4 cars away and never met the guy before, all the Pinto gear was a dead give a way. Thanks for the great conversation.

Someone hurry with the pics!

I want to thank everyone who attended for having such a successful showing of automotive history.  I took about 70 pics and had a real good time looking and reliving the past.  Thank you Brad for taking some time to talk to me.  I would have liked to stay longer but needed to pay the bills.  I would like to pick the brains of ALL you guys about your cars.  There were 29 (or 30) examples of genuine love for your automobiles and ALL of them are cool.  Steve & Jennifer (name?)(from Yucaipa), thanks for sitting with me for coffee!!!

WOW, what can I say about this years Knott's Berry Farm meet & first PCCA 'blessed' one... ALL HAIL BRAD! I don't know if everyone knew or not but Brad was working his tail off all day and was toasted at the end... He really did all of us proud to the enth degree,  Toast, 'Clink'...

Also wanted to wave a big thanks flag out to Frank Canon of Pinto Works, (PCCA Shirts), Frank provided the shirts for the event at no initial cost to the group. Did you guys see the shirts? Aren't they great?

I have never seen this many pintos in all my life, and been so impressed with the quality of people attending not to mention the exceptional cars.... What a pleasure! My wife was even very pleasantly surprised that yes indeed there are others out there and that everyone was so nice. She even pledged to help me finish the garage and work on the Pintos so we can bring one next time, DING... Serious Wife points!!! ...

As most of you saw, she took pictures of the prizes/winners (she was really getting into the spirit!)... Will be posting them soon.. (will need help from Brad on the what won..etc.. did not write that down...

Here are some shots my brother took of the meet, please disregard the family shots and concentrate on the Pintos...

Someone PLEASE let me know who the 'Napper' is .... I LOVE this Shot!!!  HA!

IMPORTANT: If you were there, do a quick PM direct to me so I can give you a Merit Badge on your profile on the site... don't want to miss anyone!!

More later....
