well that was no fun

yes i plan on making a tear drop pinto. for camping to be towed by my 79 wagon im working on lightening the car first i hafta get the tung weight down to about 150-200 lb
im at about 250-300 right now but im planing on removing the door bars and putting plexi glass window. hoping to keep windows operable.
i may end up moving the axle 3" forward to do so. but fist is cut cut cut.
im cutting out the tunnel  and making it flat and putting in a bed at the hight of the back seat bottom mounting bar.
i plan on cutting out the rear (spare tire and gas tank) to build a box below the deck hight for the fresh water, ice chest  and battery. between the bed and kitchen above the axle will be storage cabinets and above ice box will have a stove and counter space that slides out and has collapsible legs.  The hatch will have a another piece hinged to it at the bottom. the same size as hatch with collapsible leg/'s for awning.

but first make it so it can be toad

this should only take 3 weeks to be able to be used but much much more time to be at the show ready stage i plan to first focus on the frame work then the inside then it is will be operable. then it will be put to the side for the 74 turbo after that is done i will go back to tackle body and paint but it will most likely get a camo temp paint

well final paint will most likely be the pinto lime green or a brown. but that is most likely more than a year away but the camo in 3-4 weeks  but im playing this by buy ear. im in cut and weld stage. i dont want to have it fold in half on the first good bump. but im also trying to cut as much off the car that i can. i also tried to drill out the door bars but they did not come out. i drilled the 4 spot welds on ether end but they dont move. i hafta get the door bars out there good for about 60lb and the window for another 40 lb. losing the weight will help with the structural  stress.

now to the point im going to cut out the tunnel and patch it but how much will this weaken the body. how much dose the tunnel & fire wall support  how can i get the door bars out.

milti play on words.   yes towed it as in to pull but final paint will most likely be lime green pinto color. much like a frog's color and its use is to go camping in the woods. were it is not uncommon to find a toad's.  just some slite humor for my own enjoyment .  thanx for asking though. maybe some one els will see my lame sense of humor

I thought it was called "Toad" because with the nose cut off the rust bubbling paint and such, it does in fact look like a "Toad".  There is something kind of rewarding about going after something with a sawsall isn't there!!
