winsor351 - google sms auto fabrics - you will have to match your material and have a local reupholster them for you. no place to buy nos/repop covers for pintos

So here she is...
Lots of work to do to her...but luckily I am starting with a really solid base. I am doing a 302, C4, 8" (temporary), and MII frontend and leaving the rest pretty much stock.

Thats the old paint..it is in the shop now losing the roof rack, stripes, a few dings, and some rust... but I think this color will go good with the boss 302 stripes I plan to put on it later so I am keeping it.  Besides the interior is yellow so I am pretty much stuck with it unless I can find a donor for a different color interior in as good of shape. This car was WELL maintained and it shows. It drove like a new car for 45 minutes on the freeway the night i picked it up.

Well I just ordered the 11" brake kit for it that carbomb had posted as a link to ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MUSTANG-II-11-BRAKE-KIT-FORD-5-x-4-50-PATTERN-/130409898583?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item1e5d092257#ht_1311wt_1159 looks pretty complete and takes care of a lot of the parts I need to replace on this MII IFS to get it up to par for the wagon. :D

The 'donor' car...a pretty much complete 64 Ranchero. 4bl 302, c4, and an 8" rear-end will come from this one..then it is time to sell it or part it out to see f I can recoup some of the cost and get it out off my driveway. It even has a set of headers in the back, with any luck I can modify them to work.

Paint pictures! she came out good...but I decided to make some more modifications and am going to lose the chrome around the windows and down below the doors now that I see how well it looks without. My friend (the bodyshop owner) was like I told you so! and it's gonna cost a bit extra in materials...lo l. I know the paint and clear are expensive but it is easier to do it this way than decide after the chrome is gone it should have been kept. Another week or so and she finally gets to see her spot in the garage next to the 68 Camaro were she will get the subframe connectors, 302, aod, 8" rearend...etc,etc. I'll post pics as i go...probably should have started this thread in projects.

Thanks Scott, My friend has been doing bodywork long enough to have his own shop for over 10 years now. It is the only reason I get away with changing my mind mid-stream on it, and also why I had it painted in the very beginning instead of waiting until the end of the build...lol. He does really good work though. Our friendship works out well since I used to be a machinist/fabricator. We trade work back and forth...he makes them pretty and I make them fast and reliable.

I know that once a car is painted you are supposed to move on to something, anything besides the body...but here we go again...I bought the rear doors and the rear quarter off a neon and am grafting them into the wagon. My paint guy is SO patient with me thankfully. Pics will be added as I go of course...and BIG thanks to Fred for the piece that goes between bumper and car! It got here safely and is worth every penny. :)

Shot of the door handle being grafted in..I used rear doors off the neon and will be using keyless entry with the rear hatch as a backup. I did this because I do not want to have to use 2 keys and the handles look better w/o locks in them. Still deciding on mirrors. Most everything is in the pillar now and I am not sure I want to go to that extreme on this build...

How cool is this! Love the door handled and fuel door mods- really good stuff... Keep posting shots and keep us updated. You are really lucky to even have a body shop to work on your pinto... Last time I had any work done I had to go to the local ford dealer and that was like pulling teeth. No one wants or takes pride in their work these days- it's really nice to see stuff like this.

Did you ever install the Lexus seats in the Wagon?

I'm thinking this is a real neat 'upgrade' and I'm interested in how this goes. I was never fond of the stock Pinto seat and looked into Fox Body seat replacements at one time- The Lexus seats seem very regal-

That's an interesting question.  I just bought a new 2012 Lincoln MKT and it doesn't have a gas cap at all behind the fuel door. You just open the door, shove the nozzle in, and that's that!
