looks like SMS only goes up to 1975. Would the colors be the same for the later models?

winsor351 - google sms auto fabrics - you will have to match your material and have a local reupholster them for you. no place to buy nos/repop covers for pintos

My very first car was a '72 Pinto hatchback
« on: July 13, 2007, 04:52:47 PM »
Bought it used in 1978.  I just graduated college (Syracuse University) and needed a car to get to a new job.  Had it for about 2 years.  From somewhat hazy memory: Color was blue, AM radio (which was quite sensitive), engine if I recall correctly was from England? and was 2200 big. No air. Automatic trans. It had about 68 thousand miles on it when I got it.  The timing belt broke about 6 months after I bought it, was sitting still in traffic (been told that that was a good thing in that if I had been moving under power, it would have damaged the engine badly). (Heard later that this was about when it should give out, and today it would get replaced as scheduled maintenance, I'd prefer that to getting stuck on the road...). Dead battery another time (it was probably due).  Seemed that it was in the shop every couple of months...  I imagine that this is the typical story of an older Pinto car with a fair amount of miles on it.  It was interesting to look at the various pictures of Pintos like mine.  After a while I bought a new car, an 81 Honda Civic...
