looks like SMS only goes up to 1975. Would the colors be the same for the later models?

My Pinto..In the News!!
« on: December 09, 2008, 10:13:20 PM »
Last week our local news station was doing a story about the big three carmakers bailout, one news guy said something about the proceedings lasting longer than the Ford Pinto. The weather guy got to talking about how he hadn't seen a Pinto in 10 years or more, he said if anyone still owned one to send in a pic and he would put it on the air. I sent in a pic of mine and sure enough, on 12/8 they showed the picture of my car on the morning news! If you want to check it out, go to www.whsv.com, scan down on the right and click on the link for 12/8 daybreak news. The only bad thing is you have to watch 12 minuets of news before the weather guy shows the car, the good news is the news girls are cute!! (BTW, check out the news story about the guy they caught making moonshine, thats a good lookin'  :reek: dude, and some nasty lookin' shine!!  :reek:) Pretty cool, got my 15 seconds of fame!  ;D
If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?

Congrats on your publicity! I'm waiting for that chance here in Boise for my own Pony. :)

I remember there was a radio station here in Boise that announced my car over the air waves back in the late 90s. My brother was driving it at the time and had a big sound system in it. The DJ said he was "being boomed out by a blue Pinto on his way to work and thought it was pretty cool".

WAY COOL, Jimmy!
I missed that broadcast or I would have sent them a photo of my little brown pony too!  That moonshiner looks to be a fine, upstanding citizen, now doesn't he :rolleye:?
We live in a weird place I think - have any thoughts on the 41-year-old double murder case that is (apparently) finally solved?  I can't wait to find out who the killer is... while I didn't know either of the victims, I DO know relatives of both... it seems possible to me that the killer could be an acquaintance also.  Wouldn't that be something?
By the way - I got my PCCA 2009 calendar today and your car looks fantastic in there too.  Take care!
Dwayne

thanks everyone, I think it was neat that they actually did it. Hey Dwayne, go ahead and send your pic in, attention to the weather guy, Kurt Hyatt or something like that, he seems to like Pintos! As far as the 41 year-old double homicide, I have some inside info but I can't say anything. One of the girls was married to a friend of my family, but you're on the right track.

Jimmy,

I might just do that... I still have the snapshots I showed you.  It's not exactly pretty, but it IS a Pinto!

If, perchance, you're referring to Carolyn P., Danny and I have been friendly for years... I've bought several Cadillacs from him over the years but for the most part we've always refrained from discussing his first marriage.  My connection to Constance H. was through her grandmother.  We worked together as organist and pianist at Jollivue UMC for twelve years.  Regardless, I'm sure both families will be relieved to finally have some resolution after all these years.

If it helps, the car club I am a member (Losers Car Club of WI) of will be a part of the 2009 Greater Milwaukee Auto Show in February. I will be the olny Pinto there so that will be a lot of fun. Since a lot of the dealers are pulling out of this show due to the "Big Three" cutting back, we are going to be featured in one of the rooms that would have held new models. I will make sure that I display the PCCA logo proudly  ;D

I agree with 71pintoracer. Send some shots of our largest meets. I think that would show some good publicity that the Pinto is becoming a car that is "cool to have" and becoming more popular and fun to own and restore.
