looks like SMS only goes up to 1975. Would the colors be the same for the later models?

winsor351 - google sms auto fabrics - you will have to match your material and have a local reupholster them for you. no place to buy nos/repop covers for pintos

I bought this beauty about three weeks ago when I was going to my cousins graduation. It was sittin off the side of the road with a sign in it. Since then I have replaced the tires(it had the biased tires from the factory) and the steering bushing. I still have to replace the shocks and wheel cylinders but they arn't in too bad of shape. It's a 1975 runabout 2.3l with 7213.1 miles.

That is absolutely gorgeous.  Reminds me of my 1976 when I first bought it, had the same wheels, tires and hubcaps.  Classic.

What is the story behind it?  Why so few miles?  Why are the wheel cylinders and steering bushing bad on a car with so few miles?

The guy that I bought it off of had it since 82' and he bought it off his friend when his mom died. He took it out of the garage to start it and let it run and then drive it in his backyard only about 400miles(I don't know why he didn't drive it). He said it was always covered up in a heated garage. The only reason that I can think for those parts going bad is because it wasn't driven.

1975 Pinto

You have me beat by 3 thousand miles.  Congratulation s on your find.
I too had to replace the rubber disk which connects the two halves of the steering shaft.  It is not the mileage, it is simply oxidation of the rubber over time.

Are our cars the same color?  Mine was called medium lime yellow.

1975Pinto,  Incredible find !!   I would love to have come across and bought that one too !  It is like you took a time machine back to June '75 and picked it up in a Ford used car lot w/only 7,000 plus miles on the odometer.  Nice !!

Reminds me of when a high school buddy and me went up to Sioux City to see the movie Christine and went on to the Rod and Custom show (how gearheaded is that?) Then we rode my little Pinto the 60 miles back home in a severe blizzard. There were radio and TV advisories to keep small cars and large trucks off the road!

I needed to either cover or move Connie's car out of the garage to paint the doorjambs on the tan car (zinc yellow). I choose to put it outside, but had no idea it was going to snow again that day. It was only a dusting, but I felt so bad I did not even take a photo.

Ahhhh.. but I have a loophole you may like. The Pinto is covered, so technically the cover was snowed on.  :D That would mean the Pinto still hasn't been snowed on. lol
