looks like SMS only goes up to 1975. Would the colors be the same for the later models?

winsor351 - google sms auto fabrics - you will have to match your material and have a local reupholster them for you. no place to buy nos/repop covers for pintos

my 73 runabout
« on: May 21, 2004, 05:16:46 PM »
I picked up a 73 runabout for $150 3 weeks ago.  She's got a little bit of rust on the hood under the ford letters and on the back of the rear wheel wells.  Nothing thats not easily fixable.  Its hard to find pintos in Va, and its Very hard to find one in this good of shape.  It came with the original invoice when it was new in 73, and someone actualy sprung to have it undercoated from the dealership.  Thats probably why its in as good of shape as it is.

When I bought her, the 2000cc had no compression on the #4 cylinder because someone had adjusted the valves too tight and it burnt the exhaust valve.  After I removed the head, I found VERY little cylinder ridge.  not enough to even catch your fingernail.  So, the 52,527 miles on the odometer is actual mileage.

I did a valve-job and have been driving it for 2 weeks with no problems.  Here are some pics.  Tell me what you think.

Only $150 for that Pinto?? :o Nice find! I found one that runs but the body's a little rough, and they want $300 for it.. A good price for a running car, but not as good a deal as your is. 8)

Man, that is one CLEAN green Machine! When I bought my car for $500 someone had had it undercoated too, and I think it was from the factory, even thogh I don't have an invoice. That's real nice for a Virgina car, I live in Ohio, so I kinda know what kind of weather you guys face. The only advice I have would be to take those goofy looking speakers out of the back unless your really attached to them! ;D
My theory on the Gas Tank of the Ford Pinto:
If it ain't fixed, don't break it!! :)

Cool car, but where do you put your groceries with those speakers in the way. Great score though. Remeber Salted roads are the enemy.
