302 headers?
« on: February 29, 2004, 08:43:02 AM »
Howdy,  I got a race orange '75 hatch with a 302 and cast heads.  The cars got a macpherson strut front end with the close ratio rack & pinion out of a cobra II.  I'm ltrying to find out if there's a header kit for this sort of thing.

btw the car has well made aluminum sheet inner fender walls that I don't want to cut (incase some route around the spring or somthing weird)

thanks for the help!

I used Mustang II headers, and they hug the motor and go back normally. In another week or so, I should have my website back up, and I'll post a link to it when its up. I have a ton of photos, and a few videos as well.

Are you referring to my website? It's at the same place, on the computer here at the apartment. It was off line when the DSL modem and router took a lightning hit. The addy is still http://avs.epix.net/geb

As for the headers, click on the link for my videos. There's a video showing the best and probably the only way to install Hooker Mustang II V8 headers.

Hey Pintobro,

Nice video.  I can't believe those things fit.  Do you remember the part number if the headers?  I have the Hookers with two tubes on each side out the fender wells and I don't like them.  Lots of power but they never ever seal up.

Lemme know.

I am going to use the same headers on my 71 351 setup but I am going to have my buddy at the muffler shop weld them up for me because ounce they are on they are staying on when I pull the motor out they will stay in.

I don't remember the part # for the headers, but if you get a set for a 74 or 75 Mustang II, with a little bending, you should be good to go. We tried installing them with the motor and tranny in, from the top & bottom, and found that the only way to get both of them in is by bolting them on with the motor and tranny out of the car, and installing the whole thing at once. Also, if you don't want to pull the motor and tranny out in the future to replace the starter, go with a mini high torque starter (the one with the selinoid on the starter). If you want to retain the original selinoid, just make a jumper from the battery post to the starter terminal on the selinoid.

I'd like to see pics of the Mustang II headers with modifications (in car).  The links don't seem to work.
