'76 Pinto Pics
« on: July 31, 2004, 10:51:50 PM »
I went to a community gathering in a town where I used to live. There was a car show, live bands, poker run, and peel-out contest. Of course, no Pintos. At least, not this year...next year, who knows?  ;D

But, Pinto related things still happen. First, I got my first good look at the engine mounts for a 289 in a Mustang. Funny what you never think about looking at when you're just a "casual" observer. Anyway, that setup looks like it should work for mounting a Ford V8 in a Pinto. I know others have said they've used the setup, I just wanted to confirm for myself.

Next, I got to networking with friends, both old and new, and learned of a couple Pintos put out to pasture in various towns. Eventually, I'll do some legwork to see if there's some parts I can use. Plus, I located an 8" rear end a guy had pulled from a parts car when he was restoring his '61 Starliner. So now the Poison Pinto is down to just needing a tranny.

Lastly, I stopped by a former neighbor's house. He was gone on a camping trip, but I did take a couple shots of his '76 hatchback. It's not quite pristine, but it's darn close.
I left my Pinto in front of my house last night. This morning there were two more left with it.

Stupid Geocities and their data transfer limits anyway.

I guess my Pinto sites have taken a lot of hits and all my files became "temporarily unavailable." I see that all of you hit within one hour of each other.

I replaced the web link with a direct attachment. That should make everyone happy.  ;D

Shot of inside and the back! And its in the classifieds. ;D   By the way Posion Pinto ,the picture you posted is not a" 76",look at the taillights on mine and the bottom of the front fenders and compare .I bought my car new so the white one is a 77+ that was rebuilt as a look alike. :o Pat

I don't think anything was modified on the white car. I was going by the "egg crate" grille, which at the time I thought was specific to '76 models. So, it's probably a '77 not a '76.

As I remember ,the 76 was the only year with the flat  egg crate grill. The 77+ were sloped.I always liked the 71-73 best for the small (old mustang look )bumpers .One other thing .The 77+ had aluminum bumpers which I traded my perfect Chrome ones for when I was drag  racing my 76 every weds night .They are so  much lighter . ;) Helped the ET! I really miss racing but my  doctor said I had to quit because of the medication he put me on .I continued but my reaction time got so bad I realized hewas right. So I parked it and bought a turbo street car.  . :' (  Sorry about rambling on! )

To check out a picture of my ride go to http://www.freewebs.com/chambersracing/pintopictures.htm

it is either a '76 or '75 pinto.

The vin number finder thingy on this site sais it is a 76 but when i bought it the owner said it was a 1975 Ford pinto.

Who knows...

THAT, is sacrilidge (sp?) on this website! :'(
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.

i am very sorry guys.

But first of all, it was not i who made that pinto into a race car. It was someone else then i bought it from him.
Indeed i was driving the car when that happened but it was someone else who spun me out right in front of a pack of four cars.

Sorry guys!

lol started out as race car finished as demolition derby car and that is most likely it's future, that is if it doesn't fall apart in my driveway just sitting there.
