Hi Mike. I give you both thumbs up for keeping your long and well-running '76 wagon, well, up and running! My '71 doesn't have as many miles on her but she's racking up memories for me as well as miles on her!  ;D

As far as I know, the speedo cables are all the same however the gear is going to depend on transmission and rear gears.  I have a few spare speedo cables but I am not going to be able to know what tooth gear you need.  I have one good black kick panel as well.

hi tigger, i don't know either. i thought they were all the same. does the gear on the end come off? do you need to know what the tooth count is on the gear i have now is? i changed the rear out for a 8". not sure what ratio that is. as far as the kick panel, what are you asking for it? thanks glen

Yes the gear comes off.  What is wrong with your current speedo cable?  You should be able to use your old gear if the speedo was reading corretly after the rear end swap.

Ill take $7.50 plus shipping for the kick panel however, at the moment, I do not remember which side it is.

there is nothing wrong with the one i have. my cousin rebuilt the trans for me and he is not sure if he got the speedo gear in the tranny right. i just wanted to have a spare and to try to install it before i put tranny back in car. if if he messed up, i would rather find out before hand, and i don't have to take it back out again. and the one i have is in the car allready (don't want to brake off the clip at the gauge to remove it). and as far as the kick panel, it does not matter, i need both sides, so which ever one you have is fine, e-mail me with your info. so i can get a m.o. out to you.

thanks again, glen

I will send you a PM shortly.

In my opinion, there is not much to installing the speedo gear/cable into the transmission.  It pretty much slides right in and has a clamp with a screw to hold it into place.  Now if you are referring to the part that goes onto the output shaft, that may be a different story.  I am no expert but I think if the that is installed backwards then the speedo cable would not slide in and seat properly?
