time to vent
« on: July 07, 2012, 01:46:04 PM »
Apparently some jerk has moved in the neighborhood & is reporting everything & everyone. I just got a violation for the Pinto in the driveway because they said it is non-registered car. It would help if the person checking it out would take a look at the temporary tag at the back of the car. I can't help that the water soaked it. You could easily flip it up & see it is registered.

I have never had any problems at all for the 18 years I have lived here. All of a sudden someone moves in & decides to report everyone?? Total BS!!! If it isn't causing you a problem then take a hike!

Continuing the rant, I agree it is annoying.  Unless known otherwise, just wanted to caution that it may not be a new neighbor doing the reporting.

My town started doing patrols for code violations even when no complaints have been received.  Money is tight, so they can get fines or raise the appraised values to increase tax revenues.

Somebody called in a complaint on a neighbor and falsely used my named as the complainer.  I have wondered if realestate agents may be doing this to make the neighborhood look its best for prospective buyers.  The thousands in commissions is a strong motivator.

Hmmm..... I'm not sure... Seems odd that it has started & anyone that works on cars has been targeted so I dunno. Even my neighbor has been targeted & he just has a van in his driveway that he doesn't drive but is registered. At this moment the temporary tag has been relocated to the rear window and it can be clearly seen that it was registered as of June 19th. Whoever complained about that car can take that! Irritating that I was guilty until poven innocent & that they couldn't see the car was registered. Needless to say I am gonna be holding on to the temp tag & registration even after the car is tagged so if they try to say it wasn't tagged I can prove otherwise.

I know the feeling for sure. Heck I came in late one night and got a ticket on my truck before 7:00 am because my bumper was barely over the edge of the sidewalk that crosses my driveway. :o

Made the wife so mad that she had the city come out and fix all the uneven section of sidewalks that run around the front of my house. Said that they are a tripping hazard. >:(

I think it cost them more than my 35.00 dollar ticket.

Fred explain the plane ???

Lately my stupid sh*tty HOA decided to have a walkabout in the neighborhood and site anything and EVERYTHING! Mind you, it has been pretty laissez-faire around here since before I moved here in 1999. Suddenly my yard needs "immediate attention"!? One neighbor got cited for his motorhome being parked ON HIS PROPERTY! It wasn't blocking line-of-sight, and I certainly never complained of it being there. Apparently a lot of my neighbors got warnings with a promise to be fined if the issues aren't corrected immediately. I detest HOAs!  >:( >:( >:(

P.S. My yard isn't that bad. I've seen worse in other yards.

Matty, can you fight the citation? If you have proof that it had temporary tags then you are in the right. Plus, if enough people challenge these mickeymouse citations, then maybe they'll stop or at least the officer who cited you may get a reprimand for not doing their job properly.

I dunno if I can fight it or not but since I am able to prove that the car was in fact registered they cannot proceed with the misdemeanor charge since I was not breaking any laws. The Pinto was, and is registered so there really isn't anything that was done wrong. Some jerkoff just has nothing better to do than stick their nose in other people's business  needs to go away before they really piss somebody off.

Zoning went on a terror streak in my neighborhood this spring too. I think they're trying to qualify for some federal block grants. I warned the inspector that I'm the last person they wanna piss off.

I'll paint ALL the trim on my house bright orange & fill my yard with the most obnoxious yard decorations I can find at Goodwill or yard sales. Since I live on a fairly busy corner they aren't going to want to see how nasty I can make it look.....

I like your thinking. What's odd is my neighbor also got a violation for a trailer he has in his driveway. He does rib cook offs & bought the trailer for his supplies & such. Whoever is calling about this stuff has nothing else better to do.

They were bitching about my car trailer as well. It's been in my driveway for over 20 years but all of a sudden it's a problem now. I'm just going to renew the plate & leave it sit. All they have on it now is the expired tag.

Crazy... Even crazier is that he had it tagged & insured. No reason for them to cite him except for the sake of it.

He did some digging & did find that it was the neighbor that moved in about 6 months ago. Not too smart to file a complaint to both your next doo neighbors & expect nobody to find out when it is all public record.

I had one of those jerkoffs 20 years ago that got to listen to the open headers on my Duster frequently at 2 am. Then the holeshots out in front of his house. They learn to shut the hell up after awhile :)

LOL!!! I like the way you think, too! The funny thing is, I've had fleeting thoughts of painting my house an obnoxious color scheme just to p* off the HOA and neighbors. lol  I do have tacky stuff in the yard, though... faded pink flamingos, fading gnomes, a large frog bigger than any frog found in nature, plants in various generic pots... yes, my potted plant collection garnered notice from the House Patrol.  If fined, I will FIGHT! >:(
