Would love to see more pics!!  ;D

What's the plans for it? A fixer upper and sale whole or a parter? Thinking about it, being a 77 I'm guessing a parter! LOL

Towed in # 17 today. Only thing good about this one is, it is a low mile 2.0 engine that runs as you can see from roof condition.   Fred    ;D

I didn't recognize it till I went back & looked again.  I was drooling the 1st time I saw it too. I wish I had someplace to store it till I was ready to get to it.

fairlane was a much bigger car compared to the comet.

I'll concede that a 1963 Fairlane is larger than a 1963 Comet, but I wouldn't call a 1.5 inch difference "much larger".  I dug out my trusty old Consumer Guide Encyclopedia of American Cars because I don't always trust my aging memory.  The car in the picture is definitely not a Mercury Comet - chrome is all wrong.  Not that anyone mentioned it, but it's not a Meteor either.  From that particular angle, it's difficult to determine whether it's a 1962 or 1963 Fairlane (the differences, other than front and rear, neither of which is visible here, are subtle) but photos in my Encyclopedia indicate it's a 1962 rather than a 1963 as I had previously suggested, so I stand corrected on that.  The Fairlaine was a full-size car through the 1961 model year and, therefore, much larger than a 1960 or 1961 Comet.  An interesting side note: The Comet was originally planned as a compact Edsel rather than a Mercury!

Dwayne :)
