I want a new toy
« on: January 04, 2012, 11:30:21 AM »
Interesting subject but I wanna get me a new toy to play with. Not just anything, I want to get me an old Chevy/GMC truck to restore. I dunno why but I was thinking about it & it would be cool to get me an early to mid 70's Chevy Pickup to tool around with. Call me crazy but I think it would be fun to get an older truck that needs some work but has a strong frame & workable engine. Not to mention if I needed to get parts for the Pinto I could throw the stuff in the bed & be done with it. Wouldn't be a perfect restore, that way I wouldn't be afraid to drive it lol.

Now, I gotta stop dreaming, as it won't happen any time soon lol.

I have seven (7) 67-72 Chevy/GMC trucks including three (3) short wide beds. They are all projects ranging from a cab and chassis up to complete trucks needing some mechanical and bodywork. I have 2 68 and 1 72 LWB's that wouldn't take much to put on the road. The 72 GMC just needs a transmission installed and I have one for it. I also have a new 71/72 Chevy grille in case you don't like the GMC look. The truck needs very little bodywork and it runs great with an 84 Monte Carlo SS HO305/4bbl in it. I want $3500 for it and will include new rocker panels to go with it. One of the 68's has the original 327 and Custom Cab with PS/PB and AC. It also has most of the factory chrome in driver condition and an 88-98 Chevy seat in good shape. The story on it is that the kid who owned it put a long tailshaft 350 in it then didn't have the money to have a driveshaft built and wound up selling it. I don't know the difference in transmissions so don't know if that's true or not? I haven't had time to try and start it so don't know anything about the engine except that it turns by hand. I want $2500 for it. The other 68 has had the side markers removed and filled and has a tube grille. Also has a rolled rear pan with "frenched" tail-lights and filled original lights. Could be a sharp truck with a little body work and a drive-train. I have an 86 Suburban with 350/400 Turbo and just 58K miles. (Former Fire Chief's truck.) I'll take $3000 for the 68 AND the Suburban drive train.
All 3 trucks are factory PS/PB and AC trucks.
Let me know if SERIOUSLY interested and I can send pics of one or all. Thanks, Brian 918-916-2255 (McAlester, Oklahoma)
PS: I'll always consider Pinto trade-ins. I also have some nice and mostly rust-free 71-78 fenders, coupe doors with mirrors and door panels, decent 71-73 front bumper, front and rear valances, headlight bezels and buckets, stone deflectors, etc. and a near complete 80 hatcback to part out. (Missing 4 speed and windshield. Seats are there but need covers.)

It's a good thing the junkyards here don't have anything like that to offer, or I'd be dragging stuff home all the time!  The '58 and '59 Fords, the Studebaker, the Continental Mark IV, and the Lincoln Cosmopolitan could all come to my place!  I'd leave the Continental Mark V behind since I already have one of those (in MUCH better shape)!

Reeves1, the auto shop across from my work has had one of these for sale for the past three years in spectacular shape, running even, and the same color paint. I'm guessing the price is high though, as I have seen a handful of people look at it but no one actually take it.

Problem with the junkyards in Ohio is once a car is in there it can never come out... Unless I am mistaken that is.

Now who would want to mess up a GMC frontend with one of those ugly chevy grilles. LOL The frontends the reason I love my 68 SWB still.

Shoot me a PM when you find out please.
