ESS cars should have the ralley gauges (tach) so it will have the 71-78 dash pad.  You are going to want to purchase a 71-78 cap for your ESS.

Reeves1- You are correct, replacement windshields have the same part number (same replacement PPG part) for all Pintos, BUT, the 71-72 (and maybe the 73?) have a slightly larger windshield that you can't seem to find anywhere unless you find a NOS item. I found out the hard way when I replaced mine...

For Sale: 1972 Ford Pinto Sedan

For Sale: Completely restored and flawless 1972 Ford Pinto sedan from Texas and has clear title. Car is a street legal NHRA Super Stock Modified Compact. No expense has been spared in the restoration of this car and took me 3 1/2 years to complete. Many NOS parts. Body has been bead blasted and painted. Interior has new paint, headliner, carpet, upholstery, harnesses. Motor is a highly modified 2.0 Liter Ford engine and produces approximately 309hp at the flywheel. Suspension is all new ball joints, shocks, springs, traction bars, Ford 9" rear with 11 1/2 brakes. Tires and wheels are Weld Draglites 15 x 4 fronts with 15 x 9 rears with Mickey Thompson Sportsman tire 26 x 6 fronts, 26 x 10.50 rears. Car has won many car show awards including Pinto.com calander contest for the month of Dec. 2007 and 2nd place in the 1995 Phoenix AZ World of Wheels.
