Topic: Hello from a new member

I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to this cool community. I have many fond memories as a kid in 1972 riding in Pintos, Pacers, Vegas and Mavericks. I played a lot of sports and we all car pooled between all of the families and those were the most common cars our folks owned. Later I drove my roommates Bobcat a lot in college in 1982. Always impressed with the absolutely horrify abuse the Bobcat endured I always wondered how the engine handled it. I can personally attest that Bobcats can fly and still run even if all 4 wheels point in different directions. I currently don't own a Pinto or any of the above aforementioned vehicles so you may wonder why I am here. Well it's simple, I intend to track down a ford pinto powered Bugatti and rebuild it with my 9 year old grand-daughter. This club has the knowledge and appreciation for the 4 cylinder engine I need to use on the car, along with all of the other ford components. I intend to document the build, build a CAD Data base for the components and then measure everything using photogrammetry . Later the photgrammetry CAD files can be sent to a 3D printer and the parts can be generated using a 3D printer applying  Stereo-lithography and or Fused deposition modeling. I assume my future entries go in the Projects forum? Just let me know. Anyway the most important thing is teaching a young lady how to turn a wrench and do basic design that will teach her to think for herself. Last note, I'm near Houston and I need a 4 cyl pinto engine for her to tear-down for practice, even if it's beyond repair., I'll place an ad. Thanks, Jim, A.K.A Roundabout50

Hi Jim!  Welcome!  You project plan sounds awesome and I believe your granddaughter is a very lucky young lady to have someone like you in her life.  We have forums for both Pinto Projects and Non-Pinto Projects.  In your case, I think it could probably go either way, so you choose.  At any rate, we'll be looking forward to sharing in your progress!
