Title: Coilover Front Suspension
Post by: NitroRustlerDriver on March 19, 2006, 06:32:16 PM
My father and I own a kit car that uses Pinto suspension. We would like to switch to coilovers in the front so we can adjust ride height and such. It's all 1980 Pinto suspension. My question is, who sells a coilover kit? Also, is the Pinto and the Mustang II front suspension the same, or are there differences? I've found a few coilover kits that say they work with Mustang II, but it doesn't say anything about the Pinto. Thanks.

Andrew

QA1 makes a complete kit that fits the stock mounts I have it and it works well... Like Tony said Summit or Jegs

Hello JD,
Is that shock for drag or adjustable for the street too?

go to your local grocery store and buy a street rodder magazine. there is at least 30 different vendors who sell coilover kits.

Now, should I be looking for Pinto kits, or kits for the Mustang II? Are Mustang II parts the same as Pinto parts?

1974-80 Pinto and Mustang II parts are the same.
1971-73 pinto are different.
But the shock is the same . The springs are taller. BUT with the adjustable ride heidt you should be OK on the early Pinto too.
I plan to find out soon.

Hey JD you wouldn't by chance make hedders for racecars do you?  I think we used to have one.  You wouldnt perhaps know Jim Moon either would you?  I think it was him who said that you used to build his racing motors.

We won that header in a raffle at twin cities raceway.  Too bad it wouldnt fit a pinto.  That was a real nice header.  We ended up getting a shoenfeld.  What class did you move into?  I havent been back to race at twin cities since halfway through last season.
