1976 Pinto
« on: October 09, 2014, 10:09:18 AM »
I just picked this one up last night. It's a 1976 Ford Pinto Cruising Wagon with 2.8 and auto. I feel like I stole it for $300! The engine had a cracked head so he had the engine and transmission out of the car. He already has the heads to replace the cracked one. The wife was apprehensive when I first told her what I was looking for but once she saw it she saw how cool these old wagons are she got excited. She did start talking some blasphemy about dropping in the engine out of her Camaro. It does need a little more work than I was looking for to have a daily driver right now. I am supposed to pick up another 76 wagon this evening that is Yellow with a 2.3 and auto. It will be my driver while I work on this one.
Things I will be looking for help on here are finding floor pans, finding seat covers, who knows what else till I dive off into this thing.

That's a 77/78 Pinto or the front clip has been replaced.
Its better to be a has-been, than a never was.

Well I haven't taken a look at the title or the VIN. It was sold to me as a 1976. I will look tonight and report back. I see I have much to learn.  ;D

Great deal at $300 for sure. It looks like a 77 but the door sticker probably says late 76 build date. I'd love to find a few deals like that one  8)

We have the same situation in Virginia.  Other than my own, I have seen four Pintos on the road over the past ten years!

Here in NE Pa., I have 1 good Pinto and one Parts one, my friend has 3 Pintos, and I know a woman who has one which belonged to her mother which she occasionally takes out. That is just about it in this area.
