Those are actually cast for the 2.0 pinto engine (taunus)which ironically is not the most popular engine found in a pinto.  the 2.3 litre that comes in the pinto from '74 on is actually a lima motor(domestically produced in lima ohio).  Stock 87/88 turbos have a cast aluminum cover with ribs and a center relief that lowers the efi manifold. earlier turbos have variations on the cast aluminum cover that have efi 2.3 and a ford oval  or 2.3 turbo cast in them.  if it is a 2.3 unit with plain ribs you are looking for try esslinger or maybe racer walsh.   the 2.0 in the pinto is the largest of the taunus line. they are english built engines found in early cars, their success in the export market earned them the nickname "the pinto engine"  which can be a pita when sourcing the right parts.  It is related to the 1.8 1.6 1.3 etc far more common across the pond.  while a 2.0 litre variant of the lima exists it wasn't introduced till i think 83 in the ranger. The valve covers will not interchange between the 2.0 found in a pinto and the 2.3.
Modest beginnings start with the single blow of a horn man..    Now when you get through with this thing every dickhead in the world is gonna wanna own it.   Do you know anything at all about the internal combustion engine?

They only have the covers for the 1.3 cross flow (non cross flow), 1.6 Kent , 1.8 and the 2.0 EAO motor no 2.3 Pinto motors. Nice covers but no workee workee. for us. You can also use the late  2.3/2.5 steel (?) Ranger valve cover that is really small in height, but not the Mazda motor.

Hi all, this is John Redmond from jrcast.com.
I've been asked before about doing a 2.3 cover but I can't find a 2.3 head here. I need a head to measure from to make a pattern and I fit all finished covers to a head before they get sent out. I'll have to buy a head from the US so what would be a reasonable price to pay for one or if anyone has a damaged one they want to sell, please contact me.

I wish I had a junk one. I'd send it for the shipping costs.

If someone does this you should also include the 1 piece gasket & correct valve cover so it doesn't end up needing a cork gasket to work.

I'm sorry to bring up an old thread, but where did that Pinto valve cover come from?
Thanks,
Russ

a company that no longer exists.... its a nos from them.... I talked to the son of the original owner of the company... said he hadn't seen one in years.....I bought it from a guy who couldn't use it.... it was marked inside as a 2.0 cover.... but its a 2.3 cover... it fits my 2.3 perfect.... had it sitting on it once but haven't put it to use....

Darn it. That is exactly the style I want. With or without the Pinto on it.
I guess I will have to use one of the turbo or efi types, I just don't like having stuff on a car that isn't. If that makes sense.
Thanks,
Russ
