The entire axle housing, or just the Trac-Loc?

The rear axle as a whole will fit in a Pinto, but it will need to have the mounting pads changed from the coil sprung setup of the Mustang to the leaf spring setup of the Pinto.  There may also be an issue with the width, but I am not completely sure.

If you are asking if the 7.5" gearset will fit in the 6.75" standard rear of a Pinto, no.  These Salisbury type rears are similar in appearance, but share few if any mechanical parts.
The Pinto I had I gave to my brother. The car was originally my mom's, (78 red Pinto sedan with a 2.3 and a 4spd.) I am originally from Tucson, AZ but moved to Oxnard CA :D
I'm looking for a Pinto wagon with an automatic.

The 7.5 will fit anywhere the 8.8 will, try a search, I think it may have been done on here before. If you plan on putting a v-8 in front of it then I recommend you use something else, the 7.5 was never reliable behind the 5.0 mustangs unless you kept your foot out of it. It will bend the pin & destroy the spider gears.
