Regardless of what mirror was installed, not all Pintos came with molding on the door at the base of the window.
Its better to be a has-been, than a never was.

Both of my Pintos have factory installed right side mirrors. The S/D has no chrome on the door, but the other one does. The mirrors on both sides are mounted right below the chrome strips on the doors right below the windows, so the chrome is not notched.

The wide trim on my 80 is notched on both sides for the mirrors. I have a couple sets from other cars that are notched too. I got doors from a 73 Squire with a driver side only sport mirror & notched woodgrain & no notch on the mirror-less passenger side.

Well heck this got me curious so I took a close look, I knew the passenger side didn't have a notch so I figured both sides had to be the same right, WRONG, never noticed it before but the drivers side does have a notch...

That's right... Pinto mirrors aren't round.

Correct, both of my Pintos have factory passenger side mirrors and they are rectangular, and interestingly enough neither chrome piece is notched. Mine are both 1980 models so that may be why. On my S/D the passenger mirror is larger than the drivers, and my Hatchback they are the same size. I can 100% guarantee both are factory installed as the build tag so states.
The S/D has a lot of differences though and is  a "truck" according to the sticker on the door, so maybe why the bigger mirror.

I have seen that the 75 pintos/bobcats with the wide trim have a notch on both sides if had dual mirrors - and if only on drivers side - NO notch on pass. side then.

just my 2 cents!

My '72 Squire has the sport mirrors on both sides with no notches in the chrome.
