1980 Bobcat
« on: April 02, 2015, 06:12:34 AM »
There is a 1980 Bobcat for sale in NE Pa. It has 39,000 miles on it and has been garaged last 20+ years and driven very little. I am going to check it out this weekend. It belongs to a woman I used to work with, it was her mother's car.

I checked out the 1980 Bobcat over the weekend. It is rust free, the interior is perfect with the exception the passenger seat has a slight crack on the bottom cushion. The original dash pad is not cracked. The exterior is original paint in very good shape with a little thinning in spots and a small amount of surface rust. Power steering, oil has been maintained, licensed and inspected with 38,000 original miles, garage kept . She wants 2000 dollars for it. Very tempting!

For that I should have it trailered to Idaho or have my brother pick it up.

Have any pictures?

Tempting???  I can't believe you didn't shell out the cash while you were there looking at it... that's what I would have done!

I just called the lady and we are meeting later on in the week to transfer ownership to me! The car is just too awesome to pass up. It even has the markings in the engine compartment still. I will have to let my Sedandelivery go or park it outside.
If I can figure how to load pictures I will send some.

I drove home the Bobcat today, and got to check it out carefully. It's a very nice car, beautiful chrome and interior, and original paint! Has a tiny bit of rust under the door bottoms, very little.37,000 original miles. Runs good, but I forgot how they are coming up the mountain I live on top of! How slow can it go! I figure I will put new plugs in it and clean the car outside as the inside is perfect. I have to get rid of the floor mats as they say Michelle on them, but Michelle is kind of nice and my age so you never know! I did find a tiny crack on the dash pad. I had a ball driving it around today! Whatever my Pintos may need, I have a lot of 1980 parts laying around, and hopefully the junk car ordinance they just passed won't affect me with my parts car. Any advice out there?

Photos are supposed to be self-sizing now.  If not, PM Scott Hamilton - he's the computer guru.  I'd help if I could, but I'm terrible with computers!

In the meantime, you said the Bobcat has its original paint.  What color is it?

White, with a red unfaded interior. Paint, original, is very good.

Also the molding on the door is red to match the interior. I want to preserve the car as is, any ideas or tips are appreciated.

That doesn't seem any farther than I am. I am 407 miles from Detroit. This Thursday I am hopping in my Pinto and driving 850 miles one way to visit mom in upstate NY!
