OK Guys I,m in with a 77 wagon.

Hello Pinto Community,
I am finally breaking the ice and putting a 302 into my 77 Pinto Wagon. This car had a 2.8 v6 originally, with a/c, and that was all. It was bought new in New Jersey and was driven to the Punta Gorda area of Florida as their retirement car. I asked my mother to look for a Pinto Wagon for me while she was visiting my aunt because my cruising wagon was just about salt eaten out. She pulled up to this couple at a light and asked if they wanted to sell the car. They said that they were thinking of trading it in and they exchanged numbers. A few days later they called my mom and said that they traded it in at Avis and they got 600.00 trade in value for it. So my mom went to Avis and and found that they wanted 1000.00 for the car. (It was quite a creampuff) So my Mom leaned on this guy explaining that if it wasn't for her he would not have sold one of his rental beauties in the first place and that she was going to pay 700.00 and not a penny more. My Mom is the best!!!!
This guy read her lips and did the deal. It then lived at uncle Jimmy and Aunt Velmas house in Punta Gorda for a month or two. Uncle Jimmy had to apply his Fleet wax in multiple coats and clean this baby to no end. Next it was driven to Cleveland Ohio by a retirement friend who was going to fly there anyway. He did the 1200n mile jaunt with only one overheat. But i gained possesion in 1990. I let it sit because i was not ready to retire the Cruising wagon yet. And soon after found I was going to be moving to Wichita, Kansas. In 92 I packed up my Pinto wagon and headed west. I have driven this car daily till the motor said it had enough and parked it behind my shed for the last 2.5 years. Well it is time. It is in the garage with the engine out and it getting a new life and a 302. I want to do this absolutly right. I need to harvest your advice and experience not as mere car talk but as true this is what you get to do the job right. Oil pan, motor mounts, especially exhaust manifolds. It is going to be a sleeper driver not a racecar. It will be quiet. The 302 is punched to .060 over and i will be using a Cobra Ramport FI intake manifold adapted to a Rochester Quadra-Jet. Any cam suggestions. Also, I am using a C4 PEP automatic that will be redone and setup to shift on a whim.  I am in Gentlemen. Shoot me the info. I am not stopping till this baby is done. My goal is May 1st 2005. I am video documenting this project and will be happy to send picks and pass on the tips.                                     Thanks      High_Horse

Started with a Bobcat wagon. Then a Cruising wagon. Now a Chocolate brown 77 wagon. I will enjoy this car for a long time. I'm in. High_Horse
