Pinto clutch Tech. info 1600cc Pinto

Hello Group,
This article will deal with presure plate and disc for the ford Pinto.
 Please make note.
These transmissions are commonly refered to as the "Hummer" tranny.
This transmission has a cast-iron case with an aluminum bell-house and tailshaft.

The 1.6L or 1600cc Pinto has a 7 1/2" clutch and 2 different clutch plates.
1. English transmission 7 1/2" 7/8 W/20 spline disc.\
2. German transmission 7 1/2" with 1" 23spline disc

The 2.0 uses./ German
1. 8 1/2 clutch with 1" 23 spline disc.

The 2.3 uses./ German
1. 8 1/2 clutch with 1" 23 spline disc.

Possible swap?
Merkur XR4TI uses aT-9 tranny very simular to the hummer but has an overdrive gear.

All above transmissions use 90wt gear oil.

Other info I thought might be of some help for swapping into a Pinto.

The MII with the borg warner 4speed " aluminum case
8.5" with 10 spline disc same as the later B.W. T-5 tranny except for in the SVO Mustang with uses a 9" clutch with the 9" 10 spline disc.
These trannys have an aluminum case and use ATF for lubricant
