What people say when I tell them I'm getting a Pinto...
« on: March 21, 2006, 03:33:16 PM »
So...one day I was talking to one of my buddies, we were talking about his Import, and he ask's me what I've got as a car, I tell him I've got a Ford Pinto...Next thing I know we're getting in a fist-fight over me owning a pinto.  I couldn't believe it...just becuase I love Ford Pinto's and he doesn't! I like to stick up for my Pinto though!  Some of you might understand what I'm saying!

Well Thought I might just have to throw that out there!

OMG you drive a Pinto?!  :ih8u: ya loser!  :text_yb_rofl: :text_yb_lol: :text_yb_rotf: !!1!!

Um, yeah, I've had that reaction before. I also ride a Harley Sportster, which I've been told is a girls bike.

Dragonwagon, I know what your talkin about, I bought my sporty about 10 years ago and all I herd was, how come your riddin your wife's bike or the best was, why did you buy half a harley. So I went ahead and got a 97 springer and thought it would kick butt, wish I had my screaming sporty back again. Seeing your in Portland we should hook up and go for a ride this summer, I usually ride down that was at least once a year
I do what the voices in my Pinto tell me to do

I usually let the ignorant comments slide. It's not worth popping a gasket over words. Guess that's one reason I'm in the process of rebuilding my wagon, so I can shove it in the faces of those nay-sayers. 300+ hp should shut most of them up. The other reason is that it was my first car and it deserves a come-back. If that damn thing could talk, a bunch of friends and I would probably still be in jail!  :police:

I'm always up for a ride when the sun is shining and the road is calling... give me some advance warning though, I've got a large batch of home improvement projects and honey-do's on my list for this year, not to mention my wagon... and work  :rolleye:

Yeah, the springers are nice, but a sporty would eat it for lunch. Girls bike my butt. Taller seat height, larger power to weight ratio, hard mounted engine until recently... yep, those women are lucky.

That is precisely the reason I hid the faact I was getting one. I didn't want anyone trying to talk me out of it. It happened last year and I missed out on a sweet 73 wagon :'( This time I didn't tell anyone except you guys and then I waited until the right time to tell people. I just had to make sure that they understood that it was my decision and that I was happy about it ;D. My brother and roommate surprised me and said they were glad I got it. Unfortunately there is an ignorance that people seem to cling to that Pintos are bad. Let's face it, most people are sheep and are just content to follow each other and if they had an original thought their head would explode! I can't wait to stomp my first tuner punk  8)

people give me crap every now and then, but it's just their opinion. then I give them my honest opinion about rice-grinders. I'm sure they're ok cars, even some of them are correct wheel drive (rear wheel driven). but I wouldn't own one, and if I ever did get one, I wouldn't put in the system that makes your heart skip beats, nor would I cover it with stickers and put a fart-can on it. I love my bobcat, and love pintos.

Yea, my dad took his stock '72 Maverick and is making it a come-back, he wants it to look like a granny car, silver one mirror on the door, but under the hood, he's putting a 347 stroker with a twin turbo, and Nitrous in it...he'll REALLY be turnin' peoples heads...

I told my cousin (the muscle car gearhead) that I was getting a Pinto.

He said, "Oh God! Why?"

I told him I wanted a little lightweight Pinto to make into an import killer.

He said, "Are you going to put a 302 in it?"

I told him that I was planning on putting a 2.3 Turbo in it.

Again he said, "Oh God! Why?"

You know, some people just don't get it.

if you can get around 151 cubic inches out of a 4 popper, you'll have half the displacement of a 302. I guess you could tell your cousin your half way to a  :3: :0: :2:.
