valve cover question
« on: November 08, 2014, 08:30:09 PM »
I have a question that I hope will be easy to answer....I am looking for a valve cover with the oil filler cap in the front.  This is going on a 1974 Pinto 2.3 engine.  What years will fit the '74 engine and will the Ranger 2.3 fit?

The ranger one from late 80s to early 90s black one works good.

I am looking for a '74 style breather cap that will fit the screw-in hole of a '95 ranger valve cover.  Is there such a cap available?  (Remember, these have different types of threaded holes) .  The ranger valve cover has the cap in the front which I need, but the ranger uses a "latching type" non breather oil fill cap.  Goal is to use the Ranger valve cover, install a breather style cap,  and weld up the breather pipe flush with the cover to clean it up.  Any valve cover experts out there?

I think I found my solution...an '85 mustang 2.3 valve cover.  It appears to have the breather cap in front..not a screw on cap and it appears to be smooth without a recess in the middle for air intake hose.
