Weird Coincidence:  I live in CA.  Bought my V8 Pinto from PintoPaul in Idaho and needed to sell my BMW K1200LT to make room for it in the garage.  It just sold it on ebay...to a guy in Idaho!

Pintos In Books
« on: November 02, 2009, 07:52:35 PM »
Okay, here's a challenge!

Can anyone name books with Pintos featured in them? This list EXCLUDES repair books, owners' manuals, shop manuals, car magazines (these are givens). I can name a couple...Cujo of course (Stephen King) and J.A. Jance's Partner In Crime (multicolor Pinto station wagon, unknown year). Picture books are ok too. A History Of Ford by Marie Cahill.  C'mon People Let The Fun Begin... (Sir Paul)(not a book.)  :)  I don't wanna hear crickets chirping here... :o

The Country Pinto go to the City.
If life gives you a lemon, squeeze it in your moonshine and buy a Pinto.

There was a forensic science book I read in the mid-'90s that I borrowed from the Valley College library. I can't recall the title or the author but I remember one case in the book where some killer took a woman's life and set her and the Pinto she was driving (before being killed) on fire to cover the evidence. This was a true crime.

While I was waiting at AAA to get the title changed to my name I settled down to continue reading my book. It's Lines And Shadows by Joseph Wambaugh (he writes excellent police dramas as well as true stories). Anyway, one of the San Diego Policemen wanting to get into the Border Crime Task Force (?) rides a motorcycle, but his wife drives a Pinto. This incident (in which the Pinto was brought up) took place about 1976 or early 1977.

I just finished writing a book in which one of the cars in the main character's stable is a Pinto wagon with a Focus SVT drivetrain.  She drives it from Detroit to Las Vegas and uses it to PIT a Chrysler 300 along the way.

Unfortunately, this book isn't published...

Wow. This page was 24 pages back.  Talk about forgotten... the crickets died of old age. lol

A given here is Lee Iacocca's  biography. The Pinto is prominent here, as it was kinda his "baby".

Another book that the Ford Pinto was mentioned in is Steven Gaines's Heroes And Villains (The True Story Of The Beach Boys).  In it, the author tells of Dennis Wilson meeting Karen Lamm, who worked as an actress and was in a TV ad for the Ford Pinto (pg. 273).

Last May Brian, ( Cookieboy) was staying at our house for a few days before the Stampede. He was in our computer room sitting next to the book case. The Book case has about 100 books of all kinds. He pick one up and glances inside. Chapter one paragraph one reads like this....The Breeze blew into San Junipero in the shotgun seat of Billy Weston's Pinto wagon. The Pinto lurched dangerously from should to center line , the result of Billy trying to roll a joint one-handed while balancing a Coors tallboy and bopping to the Bob Marley song cracking through the stereo. The book is Practical Demonkeeping by Christopher Moore
