Got a question...
What's the difference between a hatchback Pinto and a runabout Pinto?

Dont kill me, I'm learning about Pintos...
My Pinto looks strangly like a Ranger, that's cause it is one...

Hi all ,
My 72 is a full glass hatch with Runabout emblems. Only the 1971 cars has the half glass hatchback, possibly early production 1972.

"Hatchback" refers to a bodystyle.  In the Ford Pinto, that bodystyle bore the name "Runabout".  So, in essence, there is no difference between a hatchback and a Runabout.  The rear hatches on the Runabout changed/evolved through the years.  The earliest one was half glass, half metal.  Later they were mostly glass, surrounded by a metal frame.  There was also an all glass hatch available in the later years.  Hope this helps!

My current Pinto is a sedan, but my first one (purchased new when I was 16) was a Runabout and it will always remain my favorite of the Pinto lineup.

I'm with you there Dwayne, my wife's '72 was a half hatch runabout. It didn't have gas shocks to lift it up, it had hinges that unfolded to hold it up. I just like the name. "Runabout"
If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?

I have or have had one of each (except for the full-glass hatch) and the Runabout is my favorite.  I not only have a  Pinto Runabout... I also have a Hoover Runabout vacuum cleaner (retired). ;D

No... that's an eskimo friend... or remember the song Runaround Sue by Dion (?) ? Runabout sounds like an Outback thing, like walkabout. ;D
